  1. Nice review. The version of Spiders done acoustically isn't a new version, though, it's the original version. Spiders (acoustic) dull?? Blasphemy!! Looks like a great, energetic setlist!
  2. What a sweet present! It looks sharp. Like yours too, Sweet Melinda..."Bob Dylan, yours to discover!" I think there have been some other Wilco-esque license plates mentioned here in the past. I know I'd wave if I passed a car bearing that plate. I wonder if you'll find yourself waving, or being waved at by, complete strangers who happen to be Wilco fans?
  3. Sad...always awful when someone yields to the permanent "solution" of suicide, and lets whatever felt so hopeless win out. Who knows what else his life, and his talent, might have held. Rest in peace.
  4. Damn that was nice. What a heartbreaker of a song.
  5. You paint a great picture, Paul. I'm glad Jeff got his picture of everyone flipping the bird. I'm still wondering if anyone captured that at the Wiltern.
  6. Standing or sitting, I do love me some Mountain Goats.
  7. When's the big day, Sarah? It sounds like everything is coming together beautifully for you...personal and warm and intimate. You are doing an amazing job keeping costs under control!
  8. Yeah, this really takes me back. I can remember who I was and what I was doing at that time. I may have to make this into a series...I have several from 2002.
  9. I really appreciate it too, Paul. You fill in all the blank spots. Even when I'm there I never remember all the details or song order clearly. What do you get when you add in the San Diego setlist? There wasn't a lot of overlap even across all 4 nights! Such a treat to get to hear so many different songs. *sigh* Come back soon, Wilco. Good times.
  10. ......you get to revisit fond memories like this, dated 3-12-02. I miss the innocence I've known! Greetings friends, It's been a long haul, but we're now only 6 or so weeks away from the release of "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" on April 23. First of all we want to thank everyone for keeping the faith for the better part of a year while we sorted things out. It was a tough year on so many levels; but, we made it and we've got a lot to be thankful for. Last night was essentially the beginning of the "official" tour in support of "YHF" and as you can see from the dates on the site, Wilco are n
  11. I remembered that a friend had gotten a setlist and asked her to send me a photo. The photo confirms Paul's setlist (as if we ever doubted!). The only deviation was that they dropped out Hate It Here, probably because they ran out of time. Brennan posted over on etree to let the taper know his tracks were out of order. Here's that setlist:
  12. I wish Mick and Keith would take over our defunct grocery store a few blocks south. This area could use some excitement. "You fishstick-selling fuck!"
  13. I was so pumped up after all the fun we had Friday night that I couldn't wind down once we got home. I sat and poked around on the computer for a bit, and was so surprised when I glanced out the window and it was already light out! I was pretty thoroughly Wilcofied.
  14. PS - Did I mention that Wilco absolutely made my birthday by playing the acoustic version of Spiders? This is the song that gave me my username here, and it was so perfect it made my eyes tear up a bit.
  15. Oh man-o-man, videos and good wishes and a visit from Lotti and now, (God forbid) someone may decide to make me a spinach birthday cake....what more could a girl want?!! You all are my very favorite online community and I love you for what a great bunch of people you are. Spent my birthday visiting my dad, then a great little L.A. bar, followed by the most amazing and satisfying Wilco show in the Los Angeles Theatre, which is breathtakingly gorgeous, followed by aftershow passes (too much fun) and wrapping up with great friends at Canter's Deli with a monstrous corned beef and pastrami on ry
  16. The acoustic Spiders (kidsmoke) took my breath away, it was so perfect. The song that gave me my username here! It gave me chills and made this night the birthday bash of my dreams. All the rest was pretty damned excellent too.
  17. It's not you. We're having a technical problem that we're working to get to the bottom of. Hang tight!
  18. Okay, were going to The Association, if anybody wants to join us. Look for me, I look like my profile picture.
  19. Caught "The Finder" last night...VC's own ms. yvon works on this, it was cool to see her name flash by in the credits! Best of all, it was great entertainment, witty and fast-moving. I could get to really like these characters.
  20. Shug (Matthew) had suggested either The Association and The Varnish (speakeasy type bars within a few blocks of the theater). After reading up on each, they both seem terrific but The Varnish is tiny & says on the review "not good for groups" so The Association might be a better bet. Whaddya think? I'd love to meet up with whoever's going, and with reserved seating there's no rush for the line. Plus today's my birthday, so let's celebrate!
  21. Now I'm craving canned spinach.
