  1. Oh man-o-man, videos and good wishes and a visit from Lotti and now, (God forbid) someone may decide to make me a spinach birthday cake....what more could a girl want?!! You all are my very favorite online community and I love you for what a great bunch of people you are. Spent my birthday visiting my dad, then a great little L.A. bar, followed by the most amazing and satisfying Wilco show in the Los Angeles Theatre, which is breathtakingly gorgeous, followed by aftershow passes (too much fun) and wrapping up with great friends at Canter's Deli with a monstrous corned beef and pastrami on ry
  2. The acoustic Spiders (kidsmoke) took my breath away, it was so perfect. The song that gave me my username here! It gave me chills and made this night the birthday bash of my dreams. All the rest was pretty damned excellent too.
  3. It's not you. We're having a technical problem that we're working to get to the bottom of. Hang tight!
  4. Okay, were going to The Association, if anybody wants to join us. Look for me, I look like my profile picture.
  5. Caught "The Finder" last night...VC's own ms. yvon works on this, it was cool to see her name flash by in the credits! Best of all, it was great entertainment, witty and fast-moving. I could get to really like these characters.
  6. Shug (Matthew) had suggested either The Association and The Varnish (speakeasy type bars within a few blocks of the theater). After reading up on each, they both seem terrific but The Varnish is tiny & says on the review "not good for groups" so The Association might be a better bet. Whaddya think? I'd love to meet up with whoever's going, and with reserved seating there's no rush for the line. Plus today's my birthday, so let's celebrate!
  7. Now I'm craving canned spinach.
  8. We sang some songs, we all flipped each other off, then we sang some more songs. Good times! Hahaha....that thing with flipping the bird was the result of a guy right in the middle flipping Jeff off. I forget after which song that was, but seeing it, Jeff immediately walked to stage edge and asked him why the hell he was flipping him off! The guy responded, "Because that was fucking awesome!" which led to Jeff "returning the love" and suggesting the whole audience show the love. A fun moment but I'd rather it didn't catch on. And Paul, I'm so with you on the whole VIP ticket thing.
  9. I had a helluva great time. Funny moment when Jeff had to stop and restart Box Full of Letters because he'd accidentally left his reverb on (loud!) after Handshake Drugs. Box Full of Letters had a whole new character for a few seconds there! Can't wait for L.A.!
  10. She lived here in my city, Riverside, CA. I got to see her perform an outdoor concert back in 2001, down by the beautiful old courthouse. She was fabulous. The city paper did a great extensive front page (and continuing inside) article on her life yesterday. What an amazing woman, what a life! I noticed too that Johnny Otis, who discovered her, died just the day before she did. How fitting that he was there on the other side to wave and yell, "Hey Etta! This way!"
  11. That's not too bad, since they are city blocks, which tend to be short. What time do you plan to be at Grant Grill? I'd love for some of us who are going to be in the area to meet up! Say, between 6 and 7? Doors are at 7 for the Copley, show at 8. Reserved seating means no need to be early! Hope to see you there, Shug, if our long drive from Riverside goes uneventfully! I look like my profile pic & I'll be with my 21-yr-old son Brennan. Come one, come all!
  12. Damn, that looks nice! How "walking distance" are we talking, since I've got a bit of walking disability?
  13. I don't know San Diego, or the venue location, well enough to suggest anywhere, but a meet-up would be fun. Since it's reserved seating, we don't need to worry about saving our spots in line. Can anyone suggest a good place nearby?
  14. Getting excited....see you in SD, Anthony!
  15. Let us know how you like it, Sarah! I'd love to get one myself.
  16. Wow, what a contrast! I'll have to post pictures of our 3 kittens...well, at 10 months I guess they are officially cats now...who are littermates. They each look so different from each other that you'd never guess they were sisters! Amazing how the genes can mix! Every one of those pups is adorable. Your pair have heart-melting doggie eyes. I'll bet they can talk you into giving treats anytime!
  17. This is a great interview: http://www.acousticguitar.com/article/default.aspx?articleid=27480
  18. Congratulations on the win, even if your better judgement led you to decline this. Your songs will find their exposure...obviously they are already catching peoples' ears! Good luck.
  19. I've gotten rid of the current crop of spammers. Please report any spam you see, and we'll get rid of the spam itself and remove the accounts of the spammers. Thanks!
  20. Thanks for mentioning that, Aman. I don't think its related, but it helps to have all the puzzle pieces turned right side up. Maybe it'll clue us in to what's causing this sporadic log-in problem.
  21. Lucky you! See you there....what a venue!
