Watched this yesterday. I was totally blown away by that footage from Alex's kitchen. Amazing. And some of the old 8MM stuff and the high school cafeteria clips. The photos of Geddy in the synagogue and Neil working at his dad's shop were great too. I enjoyed some of Billy Corgan's commentary, but Jack Black came off sounding like a douchebag. And they glossed over the period that I first came to enjoy the band, The Roll The Bones album and tour. Felt like they jumped from Power Windows, briefly mentioned Presto, then right to Counterparts.

The history of Cars Can't Escape/Reasons for You to Love Me is so clouded in mystery, fans will probably never know the truth. Depending on which side you believe, you could call either the Wilco version or the Bennett solo version a "cover" of the other. Unfortunately, it means we will also not likely see Cars Can't Escape on any future Wilco compilations unless they have a better relationship with Jay's estate than they did with Jay when he was alive.

This is a great post on "hidden gems" http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/06/18/toy-story-3-easter-eggs/ I saw disappointed that there wasn't a Cars 2 teaser trailer.

We ended up watching the 2D version. My nearly 5 year old son gets annoyed with the glasses. I loved the look of the 2D film. It felt 3D to me. We saw How to Train Your Dragon in 3D a few weeks ago. That's a fun flick. I certainly agree with the "Some frightening scares." Here's my quick 2 cents:

We have a good community radio station here in Bloomington, but I never listen because their show lineup is so varied, I never know what I'm going to hear. From Hop-Hop to bluegrass to GLBT News to radio drama to Jazz and something called "Mad Scientist Rock." and my taste aren't that varied! Thanks for all the tips everyone. Here's another one I added. I was curious about how many of these were Tweedy originals. I found this article. Looks like 2 of them are. You Don’t Knock (Pops Staples/Wesley Westbrook) You Are Not Alone (Jeff Tweedy) Downward Road (Pops Staples) In Christ There is No East and West (traditional; arranged by Jeff Tweedy) Creep Along, Moses (traditional) Losing You (Randy Newman) I Belong to the Band (Rev. Gary Davis) Last Train (Allen Toussaint) Only the Lord Knows (Jeff Tweedy) Wrote A Song for Everyone (John Fogerty) We’re Gonna Make It (Little Milton) Wonderful Savior (traditional) Too Close To Heaven / I'm On My

I was thinking that the other day. I wonder what the "Oldies" or "Classic Rock" stations will sound like in 30 years?

Pretty exciting to finally get some new/old Ryan Adams music. But I agree, this limited edition vinyl shit is for the birds. All Ryan Adams fans do not own a turntable. I don't own a turntable. And I'm not going to buy a $35 record when I haven't at least heard 30 second previews of the songs. Limited edition, so if you miss out, you miss out. and $2 a track pricetag for songs that you don't even know are any good or not. What he's doing is ensuring that people pirate his music. I heard some rips of Orion on youtube and let me just say that I'm glad I didn't pay $2 a track for these. It's

Don't get me wrong. He didn't chat them up. It was more of a conversation like this: Neil: "I'd like a strawberry sundae." My Friend: "Wow, are you Neil Peart?" Neil: "Yes" My friend: "I love your music!" Neil: My Friend: "Can I get your autograph?" Neil: "Sure kid. Now where's my sundae?" Still, for a 16 year old, it was pretty memorable.

Thanks everyone! I'll look into those tracks!

I can still remember listening to the "new rush single" (Dreamline) that a buddy of mine (who had an older brother into Rush) taped off of the radio onto a cassette and we took turns listening to it in the break room at the Dairy Queen we worked at in 1991. Good times. I missed meeting Neil once in like 1992. He was on a bicycle ride through Indiana and stopped at the DQ. My brother and a different friend met him, got his autograph and served him a sundae. 10 minutes later I showed up and was pissed! I tried to get those same two old friends to get together see "Beyond the Lighted Stag

So, I was shocked last night when I realized that my nearly 5 year old knew almost all the words to Bobby Darin's "Splish Splash." He's always picking up song I'm singing. I love hearing him sing Alejandro Escovedo's "Castanets". He's been listening to a CD at night of these classic rock songs, unfortunately, it's one of those damn CDs with horrible musicians and kids singing the vocals. i want to put a disc together for him of the original songs and other classic early rock and roll songs from the late 50s and early 60s. Here's a list I came up with today. What do you all think? Anything y

Thanks for the review u2roolz. I haven't picked it up yet. I'll probably go for the single disc edition until i break down and buy an HDTV and Bluray player. Not really surprised about the exclusion of "Your Blue Room" and "Electrical Storm." Seems like these discs are meant to be more for the mass market and are tour overviews, but as a fan, I would have loved to have seen both of them. Kind of like the nights when they pull fan onstage to play with them. Do they still do that? They did on the Elevation tour. i would have loved to have a video record of the performances of "Window in th

What's on the b-side of the 7"?

Anyone pick up the new DVD? Is it any good? The deluxe edition comes with a 7" of the song "Soon" that they've been using to open shows.

Thanks! "25 minutes to go" would have been a good addition.

So today I went to sign into Via Chicago and i was given the option of signing in via my Facebook account. I've seen this on other sites, so the idea isn't new to me. I actually like the integration. My question is how will this work on Via Chicago in the future. Should we expect to see any changes to the forums to take advantage of the integration?

Yup. That's what I'm thinking too. Loved the LA X scenes this week. Desmond is a badass. My money is on Claire. i think the Ben of old is back. Enacting revenge on Widmore and playing the MIB. I don;'t think it'll work, but it'll be fun to watch. The scenes with Ben, Alex and Danielle were great. I'm thinking that neither Frank nor Richard are dead. i think we'll see Rose and Bernard on Sunday too. I'm also thinking that now that Jack is the "new Jacob" all the old rules are out the window and Jack can come up with his own rules. The comment about Kate being able t

Probably true. i don't care what he calls it. I'm going to hold judgment until i hear more of it.

Current theory is that Mother was the protector of the island AND the smoke monster. Now with Jacob and MIB, the roles are split. It's another duality theme. That's my last theory. I'm ready to stop speculating and just watch it unfold.

My neighbor and I were talking about Lost last night before the episode aired. He had a feeling that it would end with Jack being the "new Jacob" and maybe Sawyer ending up in a similar undead state as the MIB. After last night, I don't see any of this happening at all. I think it'll have more to do with redemption (of all characters, including the MIB) and less about maintaining the status quo. I don't know how it's going to end, but I sure now it's not like he suggested.

Well, you were half right! Glad to see some resolution there, although I'm not sure it was entirely necessary. My personal biggest mystery left, my "pet mystery" if you will, is what the heck was that box that Ben retrieved from the air ducts in the hotel room in Season 5's episode "The Lie". I'm not sure it matters, but it's certainly interesting the lengths they've gone to to not give him a name. I agree. The flashbacks felt like they were tacked on for people that haven't seen previous episodes. I thought it was a good episode. Sibling rivalry, Matricide, we see Jacob taki

Looks like this "Orion" project is actually going to happen. Vinyl only as far as I can tell. Here's his latest post of Facebook "ORION is still about two weeks away. The packaging is kind of intense and took a minute to put together!!! Anyway- I will update you here when the Information One Sheet is uploaded to my website. Thanks for your patience, it is a lot of work doing this label but the goal is to make rad records and to keep it simple. Anyway- the One Sheet will cover all the details." He calls it his "most legit METAL record to date." Hmmmm...... Check out a track from the albu

Yeah, I went from Rose & Bernard to Jin & Sun and I'm back in the Rose & Bernard camp. The writers won't let their on island storyline end with "Have fun blowing stuff up, we're going to stay here."
