  1. OK, so maybe I should have used the term "Officially released original non-album tracks", but b-sides is shorter. "Venus Stopped the Train" is a good song. So is "Shakin' Sugar/Alone" for that matter. Makes me wonder why they weren't released on the Bonus EP. My guess is that they are more "Jay" songs than "Jeff" songs. Hence their inclusion on "The Palace at 4am (Part I)." Interesting read.
  2. Thanks! I picked Student Loan (stereo), Cars Can't Escape, and One True Vine. Student Loan (Stereo) is just a fast, fun almost punk rock song. It's a side of Wilco we don't see often. Just a Kid, Kicking Television and The Minus Five's (I've Got a) Lyrical Stance are similar songs. Like many fans I've been fascinated by Cars Can't Escape since hearing the YHF demos, then later its inclusion on "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" and Jay Bennett's horrible reworking on his album "Bigger Than Blue." Why was it cut? Who wrote it? It's an amazing song that I wish they played more often. One
  3. I love Wilco's deep cuts. Soundtrack songs, demos, b-sides. I thought it would be fun to see what everyone's favorites were. Please take the poll, then tell us all why you picked what you did. I didn't include any cover songs and only included officially released songs. I think I got them all. Lots of great tracks here! Maybe one day the band will put them all in one package for us. After a few weeks maybe I'll whittle the list down to the top 10 and then do it over again.
  4. Someone please be sure to let us all know when this is uploaded!
  5. Looking forward to this. Someone please post when it is uploaded!
  6. Turns out that "Sometimes it happens" is a Linda Thompson cover. It's from a poem by Brian Patten. Making the adjustment now.
  7. Born Alone. You could make this a poll. I'd be interested in seeing the results. My thought is that One Sunday morning would be first, followed by Art of Almost.
  8. I saw that too. I couldn't get it to play on my computer. I hear sound but I see a green screen.
  9. I've tried about 3 times to read Moo. I get about 1/3rd through and I just give up for some reason. I've enjoyed what I've read though.
  10. Step away from my computer for the weekend to spend time with my family and see what happens? I miss the stream! Oh well, I had a great weekend, Anyone record it and would be willing to send me a PM? (EDIT: Never mind. Found it. listening now)
  11. AHAAHA! I should have check this before my shower! If you're not able to connect with Bob, I'd love to have the ticket!
  12. Just saw this: http://www.covermesongs.com/2011/08/they-say-its-your-birthday-jeff-tweedy.html Some decent stuff on there.
  13. I had problems yesterday too. They worked themselves out.
  14. At least it's another song preview! The article was OK. Maybe me very curious about "One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley's Boyfriend)" though! I'm a sucker for songs with parenthetical titles anyway.
  15. this must be the hot new thing. I just saw my local brew-pub is selling can koozies, although they don't sell can, just bottles................. But they are only $2.50 a piece, not $10!
  16. WOW. I'd love to hear a recording of that show!
  17. Reminds me a little bit of "Student Loan (Stereo)"
  18. Hilarious. I lvoe the pinball machines and Pac-Man in the game room/basement/practice room.
  19. New clear pink split 7" from Deerhoof/The Raccoonists. http://www.polyvinyl...dex.php?id=1903 The Raccoonists = Spencer & Sammy + Jeff Jeff sings lead on both songs Will add to the list shortly.
  20. Track listings have been pulled form the universal site. Maybe they weren't quite ready for public dissection yet. http://store.universal-music.co.uk/restofworld/achtung-baby/u2-achtung-baby-super-deluxe-box-2011/invt/0602527793702/
  21. I understand what you're saying. I've liked the new songs on the remastered discs but they aren't "unearthed rarities." My guess on the "Down All The Days (Vsn 1) [CD#4/07] (needs edits)" track is that this is what was listed on the tapes from the studio and they just didn't rte-name the song for the CD.
  22. Redpillbox beat me to it! Looks like Disc 6 (“Baby” Actung Baby) includes the best of these tracks. Kind of a demos disc. But some of them show up on the B-Sides and Bonus tracks disc: CD5 - B-sides and Bonus Tracks 02. Blow Your House – Analogue Mix Bono Edit 190711 07. Heaven And Hell – In Truth Mix 211711 08. Oh Berlin – Analogue Mix 1 190711 (needs an edit) 09. Near the Island (instr) Night train from Rostock. 10. Down All The Days (Vsn 1) [CD#4/07] (needs edits) 15. Everybody loves a winner edit between take 2+3 16. Real Thing (Fish out of water mix) Maybe cleaned up and finishe
