  1. Been a long while since I’ve chimed in here but I had to after watching S1E7 of The Bear & it’s amazing frantic use of the amazing frantic Spiders…even if you don’t watch the series, just watch that episode, it’s only 20 minutes
  2. Anybody have a guess on what the lineup order will be. I can miss Bob Weir (and to be brutally honest, Bob Dylan also, but I assume he's headlining), but definitely not Wilco or MMJ? Also, the "official" AmericanaramA poster states doors open at 4:30, but Ticketmaster/Livenation give a 5:30 time.
  3. I was at the Miami show but the setlist for Clearwater is sick. I'm glad I saw them perform Misunderstood in Miami because that's my #1 song, but I would of forgo that song for that clearwater set...laminated cat!!
  4. +1 for an amazing show, I've seen them 6 times around FL and this was the 2nd best (with WPB in 2002 #1). I was also in the "pit" and the downside is that the sound was kind of muddled, but that's the trade off. I didn't realize that wilco doesn't allow videotaping, how long have they had that policy? Miami Show

Is there going to be any meetup before the show, I've heard good things about this place. The rain should be gone by then.
  6. As a Miami native, I'm embarrassed that their Miami show hasn't sold out yet
  7. Has anyone tried Miami yet? They have either Mezzanine or GA, which I assume is General. Am I correct that GA is better for folks that want to be on the lower level?
  8. How does the presale through front gate work? Is a password needed?\ Thanks! P.S. Miami Finally!!!! buts it's on a Monday night
  9. What's interesting is that they're marketing this DVD as being shot in HD, but be that as it may, unless it's on Blu-ray, it's not HD. Granted, I'm sure the down-converting from HD to SD will be performed well, and thus it will be a good quality DVD (video-wise), but it will not be as good as BR. Also, the fact that it's shot in HD leads me to believe that it will be available one day in BR, otherwise, what's the point of filming it in HD? Another point, is the band being either hypocritical or ignorant here in that they're (or the filmmakers) marketing this film as being shot in HD, and t
  10. That's where I think there's some confusion, that "grainy quality" will still be there on the blu-ray. I think once the studio has the showing for Wilco, the band will understand that the blu-ray version (if properly done) won't take anything away from the look and feel of the movie. A seperate comment/question not about the above post...did Wilco commission the original movie or have some sort of artistic control over it's production, because I'm trying to figure out why they're making a point that they weren't involved in the blu-ray release. Shouldn't the director have the final say abo
  11. more news, Plexifilm is postponing the release until they can "show the band the differences between the HD and standard-definition versions" http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/11/03/plexi...nd-discourages/ By the band's recent comments concerning the 16mm B&W, they still don't seem to understand the point of blu-ray.
  12. I just got myself one of those new HDTV's...anyway, for the most part, regular DVD's look like crap on a HDTV, and it's crap because it's stretching a lower resolution image to fit the higher resolution of the HDTV, analogous to enlarging a low resolution jpg image. Some folks say a regular DVD looks better on a non-HD CRT. To me, blu-ray is really just a feature to make moves suitable/watchable on HDTV's, it really is comparable to watching the film in the theater (as far as resolution goes), actually now that I think about, movies are shot in HD anyway and there resolution is lowered for
  13. Well then, I'll be at London Bridge with a nice glass of McEwan's Scotch Ale.
  14. I also vote for a meetup at London Bridge. I was at a conference in Jax a few months ago and London Bridge was definitely the highlight for several of us. Here's a link to a google map I created for both London Bridge and the Florida Theater Also, Jax has something called Artwalk going on that day: http://www.downtownjacksonville.org/pdf/August%20flyer.pdf
  15. After seeing it on the DVD, I want a tube lamp just like Jeff's.
  16. Another reference to the weather channel for the same song just like the pitchfork review....coincidence?
  17. I really like the album, but I do think that Glenn and Nels sound somewhat "restrained". I'm only saying that knowing that both of them are one of the best at their respective instruments. I was blown away the first time I saw Glenn. It's kind of like having a kid who gets C's at school without ever opening a book...you know that he/she could do better. I guess that's why both of them have their side projects which being in Wilco gives them the resources ($$$) to have those projects. I think that Nels even said as much on his webpage when he first joined the band. I'm just worried tha
  18. First I heard of Andrew Bird was from seeing his name on this board so I decided to record the letterman show the other now...WOW!
  19. I tried ordering the CD/DVD combo thinking that it would be eligible to the free video download (like it says on the order page), but the download info is not showing up in the cart. There's a statement on the cart page that states I don't have the required items to get the download..bummer. If I place the CD only order in the cart..the download is listed. Anybody else have this issue. Thanks!
  20. Palace (aka Will Oldman, aka Bonnie Prince Billy) - The Mountain Low If I could fuck a mountain Lord, I would fuck a mountain And I'd do it with a woman in the valley
  21. Oh what I'll do for a PM....I'm needy. EDIT: Amazingly fast response, got it, Thanks!!
  22. Sorry if I'm already repeating the known, but I saw Jay Bennett's new CD in the store the other day and I noticed that John Stirratt plays bass on the album. I guess they're still friends.
  23. Google just released something called Google Music Trends where they track what Google Talk users are listening to and I found Wilco under the "Country" genre. http://www.google.com/trends/music?genre=Country I guess the good news is that they're the most popular with 8 spots in the top twenty...more than Johnny Cash even!
  24. Great photos. I also liked your Flaming Lips shots with the bubble. I thought that they owned the festival. They had an amazing, fun, interactive show.
