That's a cool piece. Thanks for sharing. I've got the John Phillips record, but I'll definitely be on the look out for some of the others.

Yeah, can anyone hook a brother up? I ordered my new macbook last week and then had emergency surgery monday. Didn't get to play it till wed. Now I'm laying in bed bored with nothing to download. Sucks.

I read that a couple weeks ago. I thought it was pretty amazing.

I think The Mountain is pretty fantastic. I also really enjoyed when Del McCoury got mad at Steve for cussing too much. That's what's wrong with most bluegrass these days--not enough cussing.

So far all the tracks I've heard from this have really disappointed me, especially "City of Immigrants". I loved The Revolution Starts Now..., though my favorite is probably still I Feel Alright.

"Smelling Medicinal" is great. personally, Distance and Clime is my least favorite Centro-matic record, though I do love several songs on it. "Janitorial Report on Channel Fail" was the highlight of their live set for a while.

I've seen this band probably more than any other since I've lived in North Texas or Austin for their entire reign. I'd start with All The Falsest Hearts Can Try, Static Vs The Strings Vol 1 or Redo the Stacks probably. They're all good though. Just depends on your tastes. The next album is gonna be a South San Gabriel/Centro-matic split double album. Should be out in the spring from what I understand.

I don't think they'd even make my top 50. Sgt Pepper's is the most overrated album ever. Or perhaps the best rated children's album. Give me the Stones or the Band anyday.

The only thing that could have made last night better would have been T.O. stabbing the buffalo painted on the field with a spear. I want to start a letter writing campaign to the No Fun League about all these stupid celebration/spiking the ball calls. I love T.O.'s creativity. He and Ocho Cinco are my favorite end zone entertainers. Possible Nick Folk nicknames: Nick "Folk You" Folk Buffalo Skinner

I'll take that as a compliment.

Took this last weekend at the Wall of Sound Festival in Fort Worth. Took this a few weeks back. It's really dark but I like it for some reason.

If you live in New Orleans, Birmingham, Atlanta or Athens, I highly suggest checking out the Rock Plaza Central/O' Death tour. Rock Plaza Central's new album is one of my favorites of the last year, and O' Death absolutely slays live. My girlfriend and I put up the RPC guys last night. Canadians make great houseguests. I love Wilco (they've been my favorite band for over a decade, after all) but I left this show early to go up stairs and see the Bowerbirds. Honestly I'm not in love with Sky Blue Sky, and the Palladium really doesn't do it for me. Kind of like seeing a band play in an airplane hangar. Granted, I was tired from being out late the night before, but overall I just wasn't inspired. Perhaps it's because they opened with "Shake It Off," possibly my least favorite Wilco song ever. Or perhaps it's because the Will Rogers show last year was transcendent. Or perhaps I think that the counting of "nothin

Devendra is not a novelty. Sure, he'll churn out some weird songs but come on. Listen to "Korean Dogwood" or "Hey Mama Wolf". Two of the most beautiful songs of the decade. The new one is good, too, though maybe not as good as Cripple Crow. "Seahorse" and "Saved" are amazing.

Happy Birthday Sam! Hope it's a good one...

I mentioned this before--like last October or something--but I thought I'd post the lyrics this time. Sure, break-ups are sad, but Rennie Sparks upped the ante by working in extinction, too. The Handsome Family "Passenger Pigeons" Ever since you moved out I've been living in the park. I'd rather talk to the wind than an empty apartment. I wish I could forget how a billion birds flew in my hollow dying heart the first time I touched your arm. Once there were a billion Passenger Pigeons. So many flew by they darkened the sky. But they were clubbed and shot, netted, gassed and b

Sorry folks, but I gotta go with Bright Eyes, even if I'm not that into the new album. Go check out the setlists from Ryan Adams' tour. BORING. "It takes two when it used to take one" :thumbdown

There's plenty of stuff coming out to be excited about-- Here's a few I jotted down a few days ago. 9/11--Oakley Hall, Animal Collective 9/18--Akron/Family 9/25--Iron & Wine, Bettye Lavette 10/2--Sunset Rubdown 10/9--Band of Horses, Beirut, Cass McCombs The new Phosphorescent comes out in October, too. And I always find if there's nothing new coming out I'm excited about, then it's a perfect time to explore and stock up on older records I missed.
-
This may too obvious, but... Sunday Morning Coming Down--Kris Kristofferson (if you can find Phosphorescent's cover it's a dandy)

I have this album. It came with a sticker and they look really goofy in the promo pics. Will is the only original member left in the band I think.
-
Wow. I hope they have some left by September 15.
