Good question anodyne!The guitar that you play has a major role in what sound you will get from an amp or a pa,I've learned this the hard way in not thinking I should bring in my own axe to a store.

I own the marshall,and yes it is very bright,but I play a Martin , so that cures that problem due to their great bass sounds.Depending on what your price range is,I would go with the Blonde,I've even plugged my Tele into one once and it sounded alright and thats uncalled for ,for an acoustic amp.

All I've heard are great things about this book,even though it's in Oprah's book club.That interveiw with James was eye opening and very informational.I've had a problem with the 12 step program since I first learned about it also,it's cool to see another man's idea of recovery help so many people.

So so true my friend,I got my D-15 for 500 bucks,and the all mahogony is a deep rich tone,love it.Played many high dollar Martins,and this is still my fav.
