Bless the Drive by Truckers for reviving this Tom T. Hall gem People starin' at me as they wheel me down the ramp toward my plane The war is over for me I've forgotten everything except the pain "Thank you sir and yes sir it was worth it for the old red-white-and-blue And since I won't be walking I suppose I'll save some money buying shoes" The bottle hidden underneath the blanket over my two battered legs I can see see the stewardess make over me and ask were you afraid I say "Why no I'm Superman and couldn't find a phone booth quite in time" A GI gets a lotta laughs if he remembers all

DAMNIT I LOVE THIS RECORD!!! Got it last week and have listened to it about 30 times. LOVE IT. As a matter of fact, I am listening to it right now. I first heard That Western Skyline on the new Public Radio Station here (KXT) and as before I turned it up, I was wondering if it was a long lost Richard Manuel Band track. That Western Skyline, My Girl to Me and When My Time Comes are tailor made for radio airplay.

A realistic Record Company Release might look like this: Box Full of Letters Pick of the Change Monday Outta Mind (Outta sight) California Stars One by One A Shot in the Arm I'm Always in Love Airline to Heaven Remember the Mountain Bed War on War Heavy Metal Drummer Hummingbirg Handshake Drugs Impossible Germany Hate it Here Kinda blah. The boys have such an interesting cataloge that I can't really imagine any 'best of' compilation that would make any fan happy

Unless these are already 'in the can', I can't imagine the boys (especially Jeff) going back to relive the past (and the acrimony) and working with BB.

For those of us of a certain age, he was the man. Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. The Grim Reaper has been busy today

I woke up this morning at 2am with the unavoidable feeling something was wrong. I came online and I found out. Bad news.

Yeah...things are getting interesting. There was a REAL game changer in Dr. Linus...Jack in now a believer, a man of faith. His scene with Richard facing off over the lit stick of dynamite may well be the most memorable scene of season six so far. Jack has stumbled and bumbled along his way since season one...every decision seeming to be a disaster. Now, maybe he will be making decisions differently. Sawyer playing a triple cross...beautiful. Sayid has truly lost his way, if not his soul. I hope that Hurley becomes more than the comic relief who comes to the rescue by accident. His charact

This really deserves its own thread. I started one, then deleted it because I didn't want to get chastised by the local Thread Nazis.

What's people reaction when I say...'Dire Straits'
Sweet Papa Crimbo replied to Wild Frank's topic in Someone Else's Song
I thought Dire Straits was really in an intersting place musically until BROTHERS IN ARMS when they became another Stadium Rocker. MAKING MOVIES, COMMUNIQUE, and the Eponymous Debut were REALLY good records. I think losing Pick Withers to heroin abuse and David Knopfler to the solo career really left Mark Knopfler a little rudderless. -
Consider it as a counter-point to the decision he made on the island that got Alex killed. THAT is his redemption.
-
I would have said egomaniacal genius.

One of the most interesting things in "Dr. Linus" is that Jack has finally started to believe. His scene with Richard (and Richard's utter despair) are extremely telling. Jack blythely lights the fuse to the dynamite and has a sit down for a chat with Richard sure that the dynamite will not explode. Jack now believes. He didn't seem quite surprised to see Ben with the 'good guys. Ben gets redemption in the sideways world, although it is interesting to note that Locke is the one who put the kernel of plotting into his mind.

Glad you posted this dude. It seems to be really popular is certain circles to portray this story is a negative light. The Touhy's were wealthy and Mike Oher wasn't an obvious future NFL star. The movie crated some scenes for dramatic effect...the nature of movies (I'm surprised nobody brought up the contrived scene of Leeann confronting the drug dealer).

Is it possible that we have seen one more/last redemption?
