  1. It's still raw. And Springsteen was the only musical artist who had the courage to tackle 9/11 in a completely unapologetic, non-ironic manner.
  2. Hurry up and watch it...this one needs disection and discussion.

  4. OK if I wait until I actually OWN the damn thing?
  5. "What a long, strange trip it's been..."
  6. You made me smile there. But, there actually was a post on this board a before W(TA) came out that lamented the fact that Jeff was sober because he was writing wimpy songs. I am still flabbergasted.
  7. This is probably an old guy complaint (and G_d knows I am feeling old these days), but what is the deal with these thin, undersided, cheap t-shirts? The t-shirt that came with the W(TA) preorder was so thin and undersized that I never even wore the damn thing. Gave it to D-man (who doesn't mind a too tight t-shirt). And it's not just Wilco. The Darkness on the Edge of Town t-shirt was just as bad. It's bad enough that the designs on theses shirts is embarrasingly spare, but cheap material and sizing issues? Sorry for the rant. But as I sit here in my Abbey Road t-shirt, I know it is po
  8. You know...based on four listens of the stream, I am thinking that at least four of these will end up being on my list of Wilco Favorites. One Sunday Morning is simply lovely; I am really loving Born Alone and Art of Almost. And in the context of the record, I Might really shines. Really looking forward to 9/27 (or Maybe Monday...depending on my fast the USPS gets me the LP/CD order).
  9. What is the legal position on that? Just yanking your chain (maybe not) It is an interesting world where obsessive fandom has been criminalized.
  10. I've been reading this, and I just don't catch the reference.
  11. There are a couple of posters on here who don't like Nels' contributions to the band. They are very vocal. (is that a proper term for posting on an internet board?) It should be pretty obvious that Nels adds a dimension to the bands sound that is unequaled.
  12. I listen to "Corduroy Cut-off Girl" from the engineer's demos and Radio Cure and I am amazed with the evolution of the song. Radio Cure is a good song. The delicate acoustic guitar at the beginning of the song are deliciously sublime.
  13. All you can do is all you can do. I guess I am getting pretty zen about stuff. All I can do at work is all I can do. All I can do for my kids is all I can do. All I can do around the house is all I can do. All I can do for my wife is all I can dol All I can read is all I can read. All I can physically listen to is all I can do. The key is this: do ALL you can do. And that is all. There's no such thing a 110% effort. Just do all you are capable of. That is enough.
  14. Who's the guy who painted the dogs playing poker. I love that shit.
  15. Doesn't sound like a tool to me. He invited u2roolz and his friend backstage, offered U2's friend an opening act slot, shared some weed and took them barhopping. He was in the midst of his adiction, so I'm not surprised he freaked when he couldn't find his stash. But dude...All the tired Horses got to open a show for him after this interaction. The singer who seems to be distant at best and a complete douche at worst is Thom Yorke. I have never met anybody famous. Did stand in line behind a Swedish Heavy Metal Band at Forever Young Records last Sunday, but I don't know what band they were
  16. The last 30 bars of this song sound like something out of the Revolver era Beatles. Having listened to the stream around 4 times, I have a feeling this thing is going to be EPIC. Best opening and closing combo I have heard in a while.
  17. I won't give them an ordinal ranking... Muzzle of Bees Hummingbird Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway(again) Jesus, etc. Ashes of American Flags Handshake drugs Pick up the Change Far, Far Away Side with Seeds Monday
  18. eh...it's just an updated version of Leave me Like you Found Me... :badger :badger
  19. From the first time I heard it in August of 2001, I could appreciate that Jeff and Jay were going somewhere different, I just felt it was trying too hard. It's not because it was noisy...I love Ashes of American Flags.
  20. I have a confession to make (I don't really like "I am trying to break your heart")
  21. Yeah...I imagine this place is such a cluster-f**k at times that it is not exactly viewed as being really representative of...well...anything.
  22. It seems to be popular for folks in the rest of the country to slag off on Texas because of the pride we residents express for our state. However, what is happening here is catastrophic. Most of the state is in an extended state of exceptional drought.
  23. Not a laughing matter. Thousands of acres and hundreds of homes have been consumed by fire (doing a little research and calculation shows over 100,000 acres in current fires) http://tx.dtswildfire.com/
