  1. Nice first post. Welcome. I assume this isn't aimed at me since my youngest is 12 - not really a baby anymore.... But I probably should be working. The Detailed Financial Pressures 2007-08 Update is due today.

  3. I've never watched with the commentary track; I guess it's time
  4. I think it's especially cool they put all the "Collins'" albums together. Since there will be people who aren't interested in any remixes of those.
  5. It's not exactly free - we have high taxes all over the place. But yeah, we love our universal health care (at least most of us do)
  6. Not even American? What does that have to do with anything? (and like A-Man and Dreamin' said)
  7. If 1 US gallon = 3.785 litres and I'm paying $1.10/litre for gas, does that mean my gas is $4.16 a gallon? For regular (ie not premium). I'm not feeling that sorry for you anymore.
  8. I know where Bruce Springsteen lives and I guess I get some kind of smug satisfaction out of that. I have no intention of knocking on the door (gate actually) or of even stopping out front to try and catch a gilmpse. But it's a connection; the same connection people get shouting out at a show, or getting an autograph or having your picture taken with an artist or getting a setlist. If I ever got to Chicago, I'd like to walk by the loft or something.
  9. I like the fact that the Wall Street Journal calls him Mr. Tweedy
  10. I don't have my Massey Hall tickets yet either (that's the one real beef I have with MusicToday - Canadians pay about $20 courier fee but yet they don't send them for weeks. Regular mail would be fine). But yeah, you shouldn't have any problem that way. The actual Massey Hall seats (at least on levels I and II) really lend themselves to sitting (if that makes any sense). They sort of pop back like a Lazyboy or something so people do tend to stay seated there. The last show at Massey Hall was one of the occassions were Jeff strongly encouraged people to stand. I wasn't there, but he was

  12. Thanks to Dash777 - I couldn't find it on my own SPOILER ALERT: It's a link to the song Wilco played on Letterman last night.
  13. It was 24.99 at the mom and pop. I bought it.
  14. I take it as a given that most of the folks here are naturally attracted to local, independent record stores as opposed to big chains
  15. This is a pretty good week for Dave, what with Elvis there tonight (and a webcast of that) Have fun tomorrow and welcome to VC (although we will expect to see a full report posted here - after the broadcast for those who like a surprise) cheers
  16. http://blogs.usatoday.com/popcandy/2007/05...alpert_in_.html Jim Halpert in the spotlight This morning my inbox has been flooded with tales of John Krasinski's appearance onstage with Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard at Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club last night. According to you guys, Krasinski surprised the audience by grabbing a guitar and professing his love of ... Wilco? So what's the connection between The Office's Jim Halpert and the indie rocker? Gibbard has a role in Krasinski's upcoming adaptation of David Foster Wallace's Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. It seems they get alon
  17. Wilco is one of those few acts that doesn't even have to ask. Even if I hadn't heard a note of it, I would be buying it on Tuesday (if I can't convince somebody to sell it to me this weekend) because of all that's gone before.
  18. On a related note, anybody from Ottawa thinking of going to Montreal this weekend for the shows? I may have an extra ticket and will be driving down.
