  1. cool article. if i'm honest, i prefer trick of the tail ere genesis. however, gabriel ere stuff is great. they def could pull of a run of shows in europe. at the same time if someone really wanted me to do music i wrote 20 years ago, there's no way i could do it. i could try, but nothing would happen.
  2. what time is wilco hitting the stage this tour?
  3. oh yeah, john is just right there, crystal clear. love it. he is so inspired in his playing. little lines and notes here and there...amazing. he's like mccartney.
  4. going to wed night. haven't seen them since 2004. never been to this venue. hope it's nice. i liked fox theater for shows. not sure where else they could play in town. anyway, us atl folks should get together sometime. personally, it's nice to know there's some cool folks out there:)
  5. finally been listening to nothing is wrong a lot. it's a very mid-temp record. LA and Fire Away are so good. the rest are so slow. i'm sure they'll grow on me :-)
  6. listening again i don't think it's as good as mark's 'many colored kite' album. that has a few memorable tunes.
  7. wonder if the wall counts as two. i need to round out my collection too. thanks for the head up.
  8. i always thought they were pretty good songwriters. if they hadn't gotten caught up in pop stardom in the 80s i might have paid more attention. we sang walk like an egyptian in my 7th grade chorus class!
  9. i can't believe how good susanna hoffs looks...she's 50 years old!
  10. def not as good as hollywood or green grass or rainy day as far as i'm concerned. i like the titles of the tunes more than the actual songs. lyrics are kind of clunky in places...cin love? nothing too memorable. pleasant listen though.
  11. yes, unfortunately it looks like a digital picture, not a real painting. too bad. i'm fine with a steal your face on every release from here on out.
  12. i may pick this up. some interesting song choices on that tour.
  13. this will probably be cool. i'm anxious to get neil's take on things. i hope he talks about scrapped albums etc. we def need an update as shakey is about ten years old at this point.
  14. that is a great version and great album. i love those small room Europe shows. i miss the days of 'live albums' culled from tours and produced well.
  15. well said. not a huge sonic youth fan, but may check out this record.
  16. right, AGIB is so damn warm and immediate. YHF is pretty good as well. we'll see. i just prefer that 'in studio feel' of records.
  17. patrick moraz didn't play on the GFTO tour. he only played on relayer. wakeman was back for GFTH.
  18. Bob Ludwig says: 'When the record is going to be competing with all other commercial recordings on a server like iTunes it is important that the new recoding sound competitive in quality and level. ' this makes me nervous about the 'loudness' of this record. i thought wilco(the album) was mastered way too loud and didn't have half the dynamic range of SBS. why does this record have to compete? with what? it's not like people are saying...'oh this record is my loudest record, so it's my favorite.' if anything, people are saying the opposite.
  19. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/exclusive-album-stream-matthew-sweets-abstract-and-ambitious-modern-art-20110914 i haven't gotten into anything this dude has done since Girlfriend. the first tune here sounds pretty good. the rest hasn't hit me. ironically, he's going to be playing Girlfriend in it's entirety on his upcoming tour.
  20. i'm curious about these 'unauthorized songs'. were/are they studio tracks or just a bunch of live nuggets? i guess that site is gone now thought.
  21. cool. there's a contingent of famous folks around atlanta. if i think someone looks like 'someone' i always look twice. could really be that person. i know folks who've run into dylan and springsteen in atlanta. i saw luke wilson once. i know, cool :-) sad about criminal. wonder how long decatur cd will hang in there.
  22. this thread is a good idea. i love Rothko and Roger Dean. http://obit-mag.com/articles/starring-mark-rothko
  23. i've met patterson hood so many times, it's really no big deal when i see him. he is gracious and kind. very very cool and nothing like that ryan adams story above. man, he sounds like a tool.
