  1. Your (official? Am I the only meteorologist on the board? edit--no, now I remember I'm not even the only Milwaukee meteorologist on the board!) Red Rocks forecast: to be vulgar, it's going to be hot as balls. If you're going either day and plan on waiting in line, make sure you bring some sort of sun protection. Umbrellas work WONDERS! As they say, at least it will be a dry heat--which means once the sun goes down, it'll cool quickly. Sunny and 98° today, falling into the upper 70's by show time. Tomorrow, sunny and 100°, probably mid to upper 70's by show time. See you all on Saturday!
  2. That show was supposed to be my final one of the North American tour, but I backed out. I knew about a dozen people getting ready to enter when it fell, and they're all very shaken. My heart goes out to the family of Scott Johnson, the drum tech that was killed. It makes me wonder which one of the guys I was watching behind the kits for the last two weeks is not with us anymore. While I'm not as tight with Radiohead crew as I am with other bands, myself and a lot of (mildly) insane Radiohead fans are at a loss right now. That band is kind to a fault, and works with very warm and gracious peopl
  3. Feral live is intense. The bass building at the end gets you jacked. As far as Tinley Park, the queuing was a nightmare. Bottom line: we had no access to water or bathrooms for about 6 hours unless we wanted to walk about 2 miles to our cars (in 90° heat). It really tainted my experience. The sound was very good though, but I sincerely hope no band I like ever goes there again.
  4. I'm a little shocked nobody has posted about this tour yet, particularly the mind-blowing show in Tinley Park. That set was one of the more spectacular Radiohead shows this year!
  5. Grrr....just got back from the gym and I missed Laminated Cat!
  6. May 11, 12: St. Vincent in Chicago and Minneapolis June 5, 6, 11: Radiohead in Cincinnati, "Cleveland", and Chicago June 23: Wilco at Red Rocks July 7: Wilco for free!
  7. Yep, words I never thought I would say: I'm taking a weekend road trip to Sioux City.
  8. Wanted: that encore at the next show I attend. Mind = BLOWN.
  9. Coldplay and U2 were the first to pop into my head. The former is touring behind a new album, so Capitol could grease the wheels a bit.
  10. The art of almost being there?
  11. I don't know if you can consider it "outdoing" since they added 2 albums worth of new material since the Residency. Regardless, those are impressive numbers!
  12. Well, it doesn't take much. You can do it at the end of the song while everyone's clapping and not miss any of the action. I've done it for a couple of shows and it didn't take away from my enjoyment or those around me; it actually made a few friends of mine really happy.
  13. The handful of people I know went to all 5 shows truly experienced a spectacle over the last week. I really wish I could have attended another show in the run, but I feel lucky to have experienced every aspect of yesterday: the camaraderie in line, the tiny--sparsely decorated--stage, the once-in-a-lifetime set, and the cookies. My god the cookies. I really enjoyed being able to watch Nels working his pedals, trying to bleed every last sound out of a guitar. Even thought it was a mainly low-key set, not one constructed for noise and dissonance, it was a treat to see exactly how he makes thos
  14. Sometimes I wish I could be this flip and sarcastic on air.
  15. Holy crap! Way to completely redesign the set! Love it
  16. Yesterday, Los Campesinos! sent out a digital version for those that preordered their new album Hello Sadness. It's pretty good. This band has had an insane output over the last 4 years. No two albums sound alike and they're all consistently good.
  17. As a Wisconsin alum and a ravenous Badgers fan, I want to go on a murderous rampage after the last two games.
  18. Damn, I'd love to hear him and Jeff talk about music for 15 minutes. I could see parallels being drawn between Elbow in England and Wilco in the US as far as how underrated they are.
  19. I wast thinking the same thing. The interview sounds really uncomfortable...
  20. Did I hear him say Wilco's from North Carolina?
  21. I was thinking Schuba's or Empty Bottle for the last show. Probably Park West before that. Maybe Logan Square Auditorium? I love this wild, unfounded speculation!
  22. Well, not necessarily Wilco, but I REALLY want to know what the first music she heard. That's a video I'd love to see!
  23. My friend and I were front and center, and I'm very thankful that you guys were also standing. I was just waiting for someone to get mad/loud during One Sunday Morning. It's a good choice for an opener, but it's tough to get people to stand for it. Thank you for adding strength to our numbers
