  1. Every time I listen to the album, I will pass right over Wasted Hours and Deep Blue. Those songs just kill the momentum for me.
  2. All I can say: Power Out > Rebellion > Month of May was INTENSE! The direction and lights just added to the pleasure.
  3. That was incredible! I will definitely travel within a day's drive to see this tour! Sprawl II looks so beautiful live.
  4. Jealousy - Natalie Merchant The Sky is Broken - Moby Cryptograms - Deerhunter The Perpetual Self - Sufjan Stevens Casino Queen (2-20-10) - Wilco Bangers & Mash - Radiohead We Luv Deez Hoez - Outkast Acuff Rose (3-5-2005) - Jeff Tweedy Barnyard Pimp - Wilco Window - Fiona Apple
  5. When I was driving home from work last night (a good half hour drive), I was totally picturing the latter half of this album as a Broadway play, a la American Idiot. Since a lot of high school theater kids listen to Arcade Fire, I'd wager we'll be hearing The Suburbs turned into a musical. If not, I'll spearhead that effort. After a few more listens, Empty Room is becoming a favorite, along with City with No Children. One gripe about CWNC: I keep wanting it to erupt into a giant crescendo toward the end instead of peaking rather mildly and fading. But I love this album overall. 2010 is going
  6. The first Wilco song I downloaded--from Napster--was Box Full of Letters because it was labeled as "Radiohead & Wilco". I bought YHF because David Fricke described it as "Kid A on mudpies". Now the two are easily my favorite bands and the ones I've seen live the most. If they toured together, no matter where, no matter when...I will be there.
  7. Seattle station has a 30 second preview of every song. It makes me want this album BAD. From the previews, it sounds like there is very little filler material on a 16 song album. In other news, Youtube is broadcasting the August 5th show at MSG. A cool video accompanies that announcement. GET PUMPED!
  8. Sleigh Bells - Treats Infinity Guitars has been in my head for the last 48 hours.
  9. This showed up today on Pitchfork. I scanned the thread and didn't see it posted, so I thought I would just add it here for the record. It's very Shatner.
  10. I always hesitate to enter into things like this. My list would definitely show my age and general ignorance to music that was made before I was born--really, the oldest album I own is Doolittle. The top 10 would likely contain 5 Radiohead albums and my list wouldn't include a single Beatles, Dylan, or Beach Boys album, as I have never listened to one (yes, I know the songs). I guess I could help things out and skew the list more "modern".
  11. If the Toronto date was ANY day after the 14th, it would have coincided with my trip to the city. I'm saddened, but I know there will be more (Midwest) dates at some point in time.
  12. ...Is everyone just taking "Company in My Back" as a given? Also, LCD Soundsystem's "You Wanted a Hit".
  13. There was an HBO show where Kicking Television was used over a montage of a military couple boinking in every room of their new house. I tried doing some research as to what show it was, but I couldn't find anything. I don't think I imagined this. But the clear answer to this is Spiders. It has a good rhythm, gets loud, gets soft...generally makes for a good time for all involved.
  14. Both songs use the phrase "month of may". Could this be a concept album about said month/season?
  15. Holy crap are these songs good. Totally not what I was expecting as far as new stuff from the band...but I am OK with that.
  16. Hoppipolla - Sigur Ros (translates to "Puddle Jumping") Red Rain - White Stripes And It Rained All Night - Thom Yorke Last Year's Rain Didn't Fall Quite So Hard - Twilight Sad Rainy Day - Coldplay Paranoid Android - Radiohead
  17. If they really did play KT, holy crap! And if they would have been able to play Dreamer....WOW!
  18. Looking at that setlist just makes me happy.
  19. And now the Times says it will be streaming a "condensed" version later. After hearing the first 3 songs, I need to hear the rest today. If someone downloaded the NYT songs, could you PM me please?
  20. I think that's why they just took the stream down. I was through the 3rd song (Somebody's Ghost?) and the fourth wouldn't load. Upon reloading, the flash player disappeared and now I can't find it anywhere. BOOO! It was sounding epic.
  21. One of the buzzwords I've heard surrounding this album is "sonic" and if Bloodbuzz is any indication, they are succeeding with the sonic element. This album is going to be intense!
  22. Yes, Leno is beating everyone in the "honeymoon period" after his show has returned. However, Conan's average rating, as per the article I linked above, was 1.1 (or 1.0 in the waning period) whereas Leno has a marginally better rating of 1.2 even after he held the Tonight Show position for a number of years. I won't rush to judgment and say that bringing Leno back was a mistake from the network's standpoint, because these things take time. In June, we will see the true results. If Leno maintains or improves his ratings, then it is a success, but if he drops off even a fraction of a point (wh
  23. ABC News Story on Leno's Ratings They're comparable to Conan's ratings. A big thumbs up to NBC...personal sidenote: I just accepted a position at an NBC affiliate. I'll be wearing a Team Coco wristband every time I give a forecast before Leno's abomination of a show.
  24. I am wondering the same thing. I secretly want it to be a badass meld of the 12 minute 2003 Wilco version with the slick Tweedy solo version. Details please!!!
