  1. LCD at MSG comes right to mind... But there's really nothing Wilco can do right now. They tried to have the strict policies in place before tickets went on sale, but unfortunately, people are still abusing the system. Voiding all tickets for that show would be a mistake, because the process would start over again and screw over a lot of fans that did get tickets to this show. I understand that there are an absurd amount of tickets on scalper sites, but it's still a very small percentage of the ticket pool. Keep your eyes glued to the ticket forum here and on Craigslist. There are always ki
  2. Keep trying folks! I just nabbed 2 front and center for St. Louis!
  3. I hope this is still up tomorrow morning when I have time to watch the whole thing, but Bloom live is exceeding my expectations!
  4. I still haven't recooped from my weekend, and I this is the best way a weekend can start! When arriving in Fish Creek, "The Tourist" was playing loudly from my car. It wasn't planned, but I had been listening to Ok Computer all the way through--I like how things work out that way. Besides being a beautiful town, Fish Creek is a tourist trap. I didn't know why I should have expected anything else, but I was really disappointed with the cost and the bustle of the city. It sits below a bluff and runs right into Lake Michigan; the prefect setting for relaxation...and filled with Chicago/Wisconsin
  5. Hot Pocket? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-i9GXbptog
  6. 21 is rather enjoyable. It might be creeping into my favorite albums of the year.
  7. No particular order: Radiohead - The King of Limbs Decemberists - The King is Dead Bon Iver - S/T Dawes - Nothing is Wrong Elbow - Build a Rocket Boys Fucked Up - David Comes to Life The Dodos - No Color LCD Soundsystem - Live at MSG (yes, not official, but one of the greatest live sets I've ever heard) The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Belong Disappointments: The Strokes Have But Haven't Spun Yet: Fleet Foxes Low
  8. I just saw a concert promoter post info for a show in Madison on October 5th
  9. For a second there, I thought the band Phoenix was on this bill and I got REALLY excited. Still, not a bad bill--might be worth a trip from the Northwoods.
  10. Do you want to "here" them or "hear" them? I can find no faults with this song. So. Much. Fun.
  11. Slightly crap audio, but this is the first (available) full band performance of this new song. You'll get a high quality version when the In the Basement episode airs in a couple weeks. However, the sound is good enough that you can glean a very HTTT sound from this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6jxLsjGD7w
  12. I'm pretty sure I caught a sly reference to the YHF cover on bowling coverage on ESPN. They were taking a shot of the Marinas Towers coming back from break, and the color guy mentioned the "iconic buildings have been seen in movies, on album covers...". A cursory Googling yielded no other albums with them on the cover. The joys of channel surfing!
  13. x1000 Weather plus Wilco...why didn't I go this year?!
  14. It makes me think about their creative process behind the album. Thom toured a lot of the songs acoustically, or with "his" band backing him up. Did they start with actual instruments and then add from there, or was this a laptop album and they said "Oh fuck, how are we going to play this"? I have a feeling TKOL songs are going to be massive live--particularly Bloom and Separator. And The Bends will always be there. Keep listening to Just and wonder where they fell off the rails
  15. Unmusical? Jonny's descending guitar parts in Staircase are beautiful! I think this period in their music is more about "the groove" than anything. I'm digging it.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFTLxkMmY4M Loving this.
  17. Ashland, WI?! Really? I think if Tweedy were going to come to the Northwoods, he'd go to Minocqua. That may or may not be a plan of mine before I move I was also shocked to get decent decent tickets for this show at noon. Can't wait for this trip! I haven't been to Door County since I was 8, so I'm going to make this a good time.
  18. Even though this episode didn't have the piss-your-pants laughing moments of others, it might be my favorite Community episode. The whole look and style blew me away. I'm REALLY excited for part 2!!!
  19. Umm...yes please? Source??? WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!? *head explodes* Quick Google search elicits a result!!! YES!!!
  20. There are newly constructed brick buildings that didn't survive these storms. EF4 and EF5 damage, by definition, means that brick structures are severely damaged, if not completely destroyed. I would think you would need reinforced concrete to survive such impressive storms.
  21. Chances are that the quantity isn't much different from outbreaks in the past. The reports are record setting simply because more people are out there looking at the storms and more people know how to make reports. Those numbers can be a little misleading, but that doesn't belittle how active the last couple of weeks have been. The jet stream has been on a more southerly track, most likely do to the strong la niña conditions that are winding down. What I find fascinating are the number of times the upper level wind patterns form a negatively tilted trough--basically it bulges out to the sout
  22. As a meteorologist, and one that happens to be on TV warning people about tornadoes, I hope people will learn from these events. Any time there is a tornado warning, you need to act immediately. You need to pay attention to weather forecasts during severe weather season. A plan must be in place to keep people safe at home, work, and school. There is no reason, in this age of technology, that people say they never knew a tornado was coming or didn't know what to do to stay safe. This outbreak has the potential to be one of the deadliest in this country's history. It shares the top spots with
