  1. I've heard many, many people say this. I'm hoping there's one more leg of the tour that brings her to Wisconsin one more time (there are currently people trying to do this in Madison )
  2. So what you're saying is Wilco will be opening for Radiohead when they tour in 2012?
  3. I hear a resemblance, but only when I was really trying. Just so people know what we're talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ku_ZMPJ5M0 This is one of my most anticipated albums of the year. I've fallen in love with anything they've done.
  4. I must mention that clapper during Cruel to Be Kind. The sound in the Overture is so perfect that you could hear this one rhythmically challenged person clap as off-beat as humanly possible. If Pat could hear it on the wing of the stage, I have to believe Nick heard it too. Also, seeing Pat sitting with his chin in his hands during Nick Lowe was adorable. *Swoon*
  5. Setlist now. i'll let others fill in the details. One Sunday Morning Poor Places Art of Almost I Might IATTBYH One Wing Bull Black Nova Rising Red Lung Impossible Germany Shouldn't Be Ashamed New Madrid Handshake Drugs Standing O Jesus, Etc (dedicated to Lukas--Suck it cancer!) Born Alone War on War Dawned on Me Shot in the Arm -------------------- Via Chicago Whole Love 36" High I Love My Label HMD ITMWLY Casino Queen Outtasite They really jam-packed the encore. Walken and Box Full of Letters were on the printed set. It was a phenomenal venue. My only complaint was the ungodly wait in the
  6. On Nels: I had the same thoughts. Especially during the key Nels moments (Art of Almost, Handshake Drugs), yet Impossible Germany sounded fine. Granted, I was on the other side of the stage--an additional dedicated Milwaukee fan in that row not at Family Wash--so it could just be the lateral mix.
  7. Yep, I was going to say 90% of this. I owe my obsession to Wilco to my teenage obsession of Radiohead. If the bands weren't compared ad nauseum after YHF, it would have been a while before I picked up a Wilco album. I, for one, am grateful for the comparisons. One other comparison I would just throw out here: I could totally see myself hanging out with Wilco and having a good time talking about whatever. Even though Radiohead is my #1 band, I kind of hope I never meet any of them. They just seem very unapproachable and non-personable. Despite those differences, both bands' music resonates wi
  8. I'm so jealous you were lucky enough to score a ticket! I can't imagine the atmosphere at these shows--particularly since they'll be the only ones they do for a few more months. If I wasn't seeing Wilco a handful of times in the next week, I would have tried my hand too! It's good to see SHA back in the sets because it is one of my live favorites. I don't understand how they can play Feral live but still leave Separator out of the sets! The latter is easily the most accessible song on TKOL and the one I connected with right off the bat. On your personal note with Mike Mills, I know how muc
  9. Before seeing the performances last night, I was thinking about skipping any tour behind this album. Now I'm convinced they will be exciting live. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy TKOL, but I was worried about its translation into a live setting.
  10. My guess is the triple-lettered rows will be folding chairs in front of row B. AAA, BBB, CCC, etc. Good pull!
  11. Man, these shows are getting too predictable....
  12. Four words: Holy shit...Northern Lights! I've only listened to the first 5 songs so far, but this is her best record.
  13. Thank god someone else on here likes Annie. I tried resurrecting the St. Vincent thread when Surgeon came out, but nobody bit... There are other performances of new songs from a show at MoMA earlier this month. From what I've heard, it's one of my most anticipated albums this year. She's always solid. And she can shred in a dress....
  14. Oooh, I forgot that I saw the New Pornos/B&S tour. That was one hell of a night! My Brightest Diamond opening for The Decemberists (that band always has AWESOME openers...they pick 'em good!) The National opening for Arcade Fire LCD Soundsystem opening for Arcade Fire St. Vincent opening for Arcade Fire and The National (separate events) Sigur Ros opening for Radiohead The Black Keys opening for Radiohead The Zutons opening for Muse Low opening for Wilco It's kind of an incestuous list, but those were some of the most incredible nights of music I've experienced.
  15. She has a horrible arrogant, invincible air to her this season. I bet the rest of the cast will walk away by the end of the season. Andy has already started, Silas will probably get pushed away in the next episode and probably go back to Heylia, Doug will turn on her once the SEC thing blows up again, and Shane will turn his back in the season finale.
  16. Latest episode...has me hooked again. Magnificent. Might be the best one in a couple years.
  17. The half was the Rock 'n Sole half marathon in Milwaukee. The full is the Fox Cities marathon.
  18. This summer has been focused on three things: getting a lot better at my job, training for a marathon. and writing music. 1. I can leave the job starting in April and, while I'm starting to enjoy northern Wisconsin, I really need a bigger city. The goal is to get a job in Madison, and to do that, I need to get on top of my game. I have a feeling I'll be able to do it. 2. I've always wanted to get in shape, and this is how I'm going to do it. The training began in May and the marathon is less than a month away. I was never a runner before this, so I was definitely starting from scratch. In
  19. Not in a good way in the slightest. I'm trying to be patient, but this is almost losing me.
  20. I think we can officially add TWL to that list.
  21. Big bump on this thread. The first taste of Strange Mercy came out today. I LOVE how deranged it sounds Strange Mercy
  22. Ask and ye shall receive. Not basic cable, but I bet it will get something circulating online.
  23. This intrigued me. Are you commenting on the difficulty in getting tickets?
  24. How would you get the exact tickets voided? Scalpers (good ones) know not to show pictures of the tickets or venues can easily void the specific seats. I could understand either the venue or the band buying the tickets back, but then the scalpers still get their money and the band/venue takes a financial hit. Is there an easier way I'm missing?
