  1. Hmm...sounds kinda legit. You gotta wonder how this appeared on the interweb. But I'm ready for the rumble in the Baldwin jungle tomorrow!
  2. Summerfest, for it's 40th anniversary "party" is really getting some shitty acts at the Marcus, but that fest is all about the free side stages anyway. I don't think Wiclo's going to show up this year because they have to be in Norway (and not jet-lagged) by July 7th. Lolla is going to be amazing for me. I can't wait to see Muse at their first proper US festival. And, from my math, it's costing me a bizzare $16.25 per band that I want to see. Totally worth that cost. There seems to be one more slot open for a headliner with Pearl Jam and Daft Punk being the other two (I don't think Ben Harpe
  3. Not wanting to start another thread, this is what I have to say about the Milwaukee show last night. I got there at about 2:45 to be third in line behind a couple from Chicago who had been there since noon. The next couple that showed up arrived at about 3:45. I must say, I was expecting a higher demand for good spots at the Pabst. But, it was nice to sit down for a few hours after working 9 hours in a busy diner on Sunday night, cramming for an exam, sleeping for four hours, taking said exam at 7:45am Monday, registering for fall classes, getting on a bus to Milwaukee, and eating a yummy lu
  4. Thank you a thousand times over you beautiful, beautiful man.
  5. I'm really excited. There are 2x the number of bands I want to see this year as opposed to last; although last year was AMAZING. I can now see myself spending $165 to do this whole thing again. And MUSE! AHH!! They're the festival band. I cannot wait. My prediction is that nature is going to have a lightshow of it's own during their performance.
  6. I read SH5 my junior year in high school. There was one passage that always made me smile: "Billy coughed when the door was opened, and when he coughed he shit thin gruel. This was in accordance with the Third Law of Motion according to Sir Isaac Newton. This law tells us that for every action there is a reaction which is equal and opposite in direction. This can be useful in rocketry." I now own almost every book/essay collection that he's ever done. He's the single greatest author alive during my lifetime, without a doubt. With one page he could make you ponder life, laugh out loud, and
  7. I thought this weather anomaly deserved a thread. I personally will be stuck at the UW campus all day since my idiot math TA decided to have an exam review tonight at 7pm. But I'm going to be taking a lot of pics today because with this wet, heavy snow, it makes for some pretty white trees (and flowers). And those poor Cleveland Indians. They move the series to Milwaukee and they still get snow! Another reason for me to be in Milwaukee this week (instead of stuck in Madison at school) is my weather idol, Jim Cantore, the biggest weather badass since Teddy Fujita, is doing live reports from t
  8. The trips to Davenport and Indiana are now justified.
  9. There's still time before Norway where they could do Grand Rapids then Summerfest. I loves me my drunken Milwaukee crowds!
  10. Could the stream be a (sad) April Fool's joke?
  11. Coming from a 20 year old who has taken O Chem, and escaped with a B, I know how he feels. Good for him, and as a mom you should be incredibly proud.
  12. Check it. Win's voice finally gave out after really struggling through the first half of the tour. Surgury is rumored to be a possibility. I have a front row ticket for the closer in Chicago (not to mention good ones for the others), so I'm really pulling for him. Very sad as they are really taking off behind Neon Bible.
  13. I'm hoping this becomes my new storm chasing song. It sounds badass. I cannot wait for this!
  14. I'll just go with all of IATTBYH and Via Chicago. Two great songs, but just strange lyrics.
  15. I don't understand what the hoopla is over Arab Strap. I'd have to say it's my least favorite album. There really isn't a bad album they do. But, for your first two, to get a good mix of old and new, get The Life Persuit and Push Barman to Enter Old Wounds.
  16. I'm going to try and satisfy that Coldplay vibe you described: The Hope of the States - The Lost Riots Easily one of the best, and most underappreciated, British albums of the decade. It's how I wanted Coldplay to go on X&Y, but, well, you know how that went The Clientele - Strange Geometry To be honest, I listen to this a lot while I'm studying/reading, and I find it to be really relaxing and melodic. The lyrics are nowhere near deep, just a lot of tremoloed guitars and good melodies. Now a couple of CDs that I'm obsessively listening to at the moment: Panda Bear - Person Pitch
  17. Quite possibly going to be the best musical ever. Aaron Sorkin writes so briliantly--equal parts comedy and drama. And this album was meant for the stage. I may have to see this when it opens.
  18. I stayed in the hostel in downtown Chicago for Lolla, and it was really, really cool, and just beyond affordable, especially for the location. I'm kinda bummed out that Ticketmaster's going to profit off of something for charity, but I guess I can live with it (unless someone wants to get me a ticket and I'll pay you back before the show )
  19. I knew there was a reason I picked up an extra shift for next week....I'm glad the money's going to a good cause. I'm so down for it!
  20. I made it 27-5 through the first round. I had a feeling this year would be devoid of upsets (except Winthrop over ND, but ND didn't really have a team this year anyway; I still had that picked). The lowest seed I have in the sweet 16 is a 5 (Tenn.). All I know is I'm in the top 5% on Facebook, not that it's legitimate though. And anyone who has the Badgers in the Final Four is a damn fool! I have 2 classes with Alando Tucker, so I'd love to say I had a class with someone that played in the Final Four. Even though I already had a cousin play in one and a friend from church....and they say thing
  21. They'll do July 1st at Summerfest, go home for festivities on the 4th, leave for Norway on the 5th/6th. Here's to wishful thinking!
