  1. So far, only two dates--Sept. 17 @ RED ROCKS (woot!) and Sept. 21 @ HOLLYWOOD BOWL. More to come later.
  2. I really, really like the new album. Even though I just listened to it once all the way through, no songs were making me hope they were shorter or didn't exist. Effect and Cause will be in my head all day however.
  3. I'd say something by Broken Social Scene...maybe It's All Going to Break. But knowing the band's sense of humor, I think they'd cover Toxic...that wouldn't sound too bad I think. Maybe Pat could do a little dance
  4. Jeff sounds FANTASTIC! I got a good feeling about this show.
  5. Then, with my new information, it was nice to (kinda) meet you Sooz, and gogo, your seats were used to their fullest, but I'm sorry you couldn't make it. As for the macrame, I'm going to be hitting up a few garage sales this weekend. And epm, were you the one up front that was...umm..."catching his second wind" during the encore? It would have been nice to meet the other VC Wauwatosian (Wauwatosite?).
  6. Not to shit all over the new guy, cuz it's nice to have more Wilco fans here on the board, I agree with everything you said. But it seems that A LOT of people were over-the-line drunk last night (my friend was one of them, and I appologize for that to everyone around us in the pit). That and the fight took a lot of fun away from the show....but the kicker is, except for the fight, I wouldn't change anything about last night. First and foremost, a HUGE thank you to Bri and Christine (I think?) for the upgrade in seats. Staying on VC for a moment, it was nice to meet Donna and talk to her
  7. *cough*HIPPIE*cough* I'll be there as well. I would love to say hi to you Donna...meet the legend and such.
  8. Except for them playing in my backyard, this is my dream Wilco concert scenario.
  9. Do Make Say Think are amazing. They make me happy. The Twilight Sad -- Think of a Scottish Arcade Fire. Stars of Track and Field -- Often compared to Radiohead, but I don't see the comparison really. Just good indie rock from the hotbed of Portland.
  10. It has a certain loveable quirkiness to it.
  11. Poor Places > Reservations > Spiders Best Wilco three song combo!
  12. This opener makes me smile. I guess if you count Arcade Fire the last three nights, this is four concerts in four days for me.
  13. This is a beautiful song and I think it should have a place on the album. However, most of the slower songs are guitar-centered songs, and I think One True Vine would have sounded out of place. This is the perfect song to have as a hidden song, right after On & On & On. On the other hand, the ending could use some work; it could go another minute or so--give Mikael an extended piano solo or something (dueling pianos with Pat is what I would do).
  14. I WANT NELS' RED PANTS! And who didn't see What Light coming?
  15. I'd love to hear these...but, with the time conversion, I think I'll be leaving for Arcade Fire shows in Chicago both nights around this time.
  16. I thought the movie sucked. I couldn't connect to any of the characters. It is, however, visually stunning. And the sex wasn't all that hot either. But I think this suit will have some heft just because a) it's a substitute teacher and the way she prefaced herself before showing the movie.
  17. Pour Places>Pot Kettle Black I think I would have died if I was there. Sounds like a magical Wilco night. I was this close to going to NW too...but then I realized they didn't offer my major
  18. The Bends OK Computer Kid A Amnesiac Hail to the Theif
  19. ^^^ Seconded! Those are classic and usually capture the essence of the band. I could see Wilco's being rather funny.
  20. So, my dad wants me to roadtrip with him to Lodgepole, SD to pick up an organ (probably a country song in there), and he said he'd be up for seeing a show at some point too. Since there is really NOTHING in between Madison and SD, we're up for taking a little detour on the way back and stopping in the cities. Are there any good shows there on May 30th/31st? Looking in Solace's general direction....
  21. I kinda get a "99 Problems" vibe during the verses. Anyone else feeling that too?
  22. Friday afternoon (or tomorrow afternoon whilst taking a break from studying) I'm going to learn me that riff in Icky. I can't get it out of my head. The weird little blips in the studio will translate into some sweet, sweet soloing on the road. Who's coming to Iqaluit with me???
  23. I really wanted to be in Denver the next time they played. If the tour was backed up a couple more weeks, I would have been there. That is such a killer set right there. The Crane Wifes, Island, Infanta AND July, July! is probably the best combo of Decemberists songs to start a show.
  24. Dang. I was right under Colin's nose. Always like to meet more VCers at concerts. But tonight's show at the Orpheum was a lot more energetic. I'm not as wordy as I was with my Milwaukee review, but some highlights include: - John playing Mariner's Revenge blindfolded - Billy Liar - THE TAIN as a nice 15 minute encore (honestly the first time I've ever heard the song) - The round of "la di da di da's" in 16 Miliatry Wives - The entire balcony trembling enough to make me fear for my life - Hearing The Bus Mall after my friend asked Colin to play it before the show I cannot wait for the fre
