All I can hear now is Homer Simpson saying "Nu-culer...it's pronounced nu-culer." -
^ Maybe they're evoking a Vonnegut device where the seeming downplaying of something major makes it, in fact, more important. But this still seems wrong to me. I guess I'm still profoundly shocked.

Dark horse for best pic: Juno. Why? No Country and TWBB are going to cancel each other out since they are far superior to any of the other noms. Although I adore Juno, it's nowhere near as good as the other two.

I bought YHF and Kid A within the same week; both my first albums from the respective bands. Listening to those two repeatedly for about a month was probably one of the best experiences my young self had. And listening to one prepared me for the other since they are pretty much the same album. I'll defend that last statement to the grave. Anyway, YHF hit instantly with me, but the other albums took multiple listens, especially AM and SBS.

Radiohead (sort of) Announce American Tour
virtualreason replied to stickman's topic in Someone Else's Song
For the European tour, all tickets, at least to my knowledge, were through the band's W.A.S.T.E. site. Last year, the site said that tickets were going to go on sale at some point on a given day...turned out to be 5am central time. Rest assured (and sleep deprived) I'll be up for about 24 straight hours if that happens again. So, while I was trying to ease your fears, I may have accidentally stoked the flames of insanity. Sorry! -

Friday, Monday - Wednesday: Add the 2.5 hour drive from Madison to Chicago from the time my last class ends. Saturday: 2ish. -
While the new webcast is nice, does it worry anyone else that Thom's voice is nowhere near as strong as it used to be? This could hamper what is usually a spectacular live show.

And I as well. It makes sense for what I make the movie to be (I would explain what that is, but it's more of a feeling than something to be verbalized).

That list is missing #15 After listening to the 5 minute clip about the list, that may be Flight of the Conchords. I agree with about 90% of that list.

I haven't in Milwaukee. It's for the better though. When I get the discbox, I'll page through everything immediately....best to get done with exams before that happens.

They really don't have enough material do do 6 nights....it's not like they have 6 albums..... But in all seriousness, if they add a Thursday show (either before or after the current stand) I think it'd be way too much strain on the boys.

Thank you for all the recommendations! I think I kinda copped out with my choices, but I wanted something that would challenge him, but at the same time get him two fantastic albums. Dan Deacon's album is amazing; I don't think I gave it a fair shake when I heard it the first time. After reading through what you all said, and doing research via youtube and amazon, I have a whole slew of new cds that I want to get. As for the two I chose, I stuck with Sound of Silver, but for the second one I picked Kid A. It's far and away my favorite album of all time, and I got it when I was his age, so mayb

I have my little cousin this year in my family's gift exchange and my little cousin (he's 14) is a big into music. I was told by my uncle that he's recently been digging electronica. I know that is a pretty broad description, but I was hoping for some ideas from all of you out there (you all have such good musical taste). If it were up to me, I'd get him LCD Soundsystem and Animal Collective, but I don't know if those would suffice. Any recommendations?

Carpooling from Madison? I wouldn't mind organizing it (just because I need a ride).
