I noticed this as well and it was a little unsettling for me too. it was cool stumbling across this thread only to find out that they were on tv again so recently. I just got into another big National kick a few days ago and it was a nice surprise. ps: started watching their doc. A Skin, A Night and couldn't get into it at all. have any of you watched the entire thing and care to comment on it? it can be viewed on their YouTube page for free.

I can imagine a more intimate Wilco album. something a little more straightforward and warm sorta like the bulk of Rick Rubin's recent productions. then again, that could be a little too Sky Blue Sky.

this one may have to grow on me a little. I think it may be slightly better than Cassadaga. I've been hoping that album would grow on me but it hasn't yet. btw, why does Shell Games remind me of an Of Montreal outtake?

I knew it was bogus when I saw Lil' Wayne's name before Wilco. That made no sense.

Wow, this is really sad. Sometimes it's easy to forget that this stuff happens to people and that they can have such trouble coping with it. I really, really wish this guy would have reached out for help after having overcome his fear of doctors and paid professionals. But he did what felt right for him and I hope he's finally found the peace which he has been deprived of for so long. If anything, I hope this story inspires those who have been through similar situations to seek help.

Superman IV was my fav. movie as a little kid. I remember reading the comic adaptation of the film as well in which Nuclear Man I was included. I would daydream about seeing the actual footage. Now, not so much, haha. -
yes! just started up the stream on my brand spankin' new laptop. I'm giving it the Tweedy-solo Spiders christening.

I for one spend way too much money on music and have started buying CDs once again. I was at my local (and only) record store and was planning on buying a Leonard Cohen album but noticed it's CD equivalent was almost $10 cheaper. I was able to buy 2 CDs for the price of 1 vinyl record. Us music fans can never decide on what we want so I'm sure the music execs will always been around to mix things up for us. BTW, it's about time for a cassette tape resurgence.

giving the album a proper listen now and I like the way it sounds. I think I was reading some reviews on itunes and everyone is saying how this one sounds so unlike Cake but it sounds exactly like Cake to me. kinda slightly deviates a little bit but not a lot.

I get the same impression regarding the resurgence of vinyl. granted, a lot of music fans may be partaking in vinyl nowadays but how many hardcore music fans are there? I can honestly say that 99.9% of my friends never buy CDs much less vinyl. seems like most people are getting the handful of tunes they desire off the internet. I wasn't alive 40 years ago but I get the impression that when "so-and-so" released a new record, people rushed out to get it. aside from sites like this, I don't see much excitement around music like I imagine there use to be back in the day. maybe I am wrong, I dunno.

about a month ago, I came across the collaboration Kurt did with William Burroughs on WSB's spoken-word piece, The Priest They Called Him. for anyone who hasn't heard it, track it down. Kurt's eerie guitar track over Burroughs' eerie voice reading an even eerier story is just...eerie. pity it's only ~9 minutes long but it's an amazing piece nonetheless.

I followed Ryan heavily around the time Cardinology was released and it was easy to see at that time that he and his music were one. there's just so much genuine emotion pouring out of his tunes. listen to all of those songs he released around then on his blog. songs like; Jessica, Rainy Face, The Lights, Yes, I Know That Color, Sunflowers and Rain, etc... those songs are so amazing and I'm sure most were written in only a few minutes. heck, the dude wrote Blue Hotel in a few minutes while waiting for Willie Nelson to get to the studio one evening. from what I gather of Ryan, he puts himself

Kalle, Please keep us updated as to when your album is released. I enjoyed your previous one a great deal.

I think a lot of my fascination with Ryan Adams stems from his lyrics, not so much the music itself. while III/IV isn't earth shattering, I find the lyrics to be quite enjoyable and comforting. then again, I liked 98% of the stuff he put up on Foggy and absolutely loved Cardinology but that's just me. so far, there are maybe 4 songs on III/IV that I haven't gotten into yet. my favs are def: Happy Birthday, Gracie, Numbers, Lovely And Blue, Users (!!!) and Sewers At The Bottom Of The Wishing Well. edit- forgot to add Typecast. sounds like that could have been written for Tony Bennett.

Destroyers is not a very accurate representation of III/IV. it's reminding me of a very, very polished follow-up to Rock 'n Roll and I mean that in the best way possible (know there's a lot of RNR haters out there.) wonder how the guys ended up going from something like this to Easy Tiger? while I love ET, a heavier album such as III/IV would have been a great follow-up to CR/JCN/29. anyway, glad Ryan chose to put this out!

I had no idea there was an expanded edition of this record. I actually just bought the vinyl from Best Buy 3 days ago and have been listening to it non-stop once again. looks like I'll be making that trek downtown for this tomorrow!
-
wait, I could of swore he said that there would not be limited pressings of this album to avoid what happened with Orion. perhaps those who ordered with the preorder will get their copies a little sooner than those who pick up the album on release date? edit- someone on the Facebook asked him why they were sold out and he replied; "we aren't my man. we are just selling the shit out of them. hang tight G money. gonna try and get some more into the store Homeslice." customer service in a way that only Ryan Adams can give
-
hmmm, wonder if these demos are from the III/IV sessions or from something else? either way, 2 slabs of vinyl, an album's worth of demos and a free download of III/IV for under $30 is not bad at all. just spent $25 for a vinyl copy of Nirvana's Unplugged!

I think Mandy talked about Ryan in an interview last year (?). she mentioned something to the extent of him spending way too much time in the metal section of this particular cd store. I think she was actually doing a gig at this particular store when the interview was done. and yes, that merch went crazy fast. Ryan said that they had 5 boxes of merch that they were going to unload and everything was gone within an hour and a half of them listing it. kinda bummed that I missed out. 9.99 was a great deal for Cold Roses/ JCN era shirts.

I think a certain Jeff Tweedy wrote a song about this very thing.

whoa, wonder how a Visions of Johanna would sound nowadays? not to rub it in, Sir Stewart, but that's a mighty fine set-list you've posted.

wow, she does look similar to Katy Perry but Katy Perry looks better. I will now leave this thread and return to the "I Have Great Taste in Women" thread. (sorry, had to )
