Confirmed, I don't know. I am just going by what my great-grandma used to tell me. Parts of my family have lived in the Hudson Valley for a long time, so I would not be surprised if there are more, but there has not been a ton of genealogical research done by us.

Not the Billy Idol thread I was expecting. (Seriously, that's interesting to hear what my great-great-great grandfather must have heard right before the Union army won at Gettysburg. I think a clip of that was in the Ken Burns thing.)

Teixiera is worth it, or at least is as much of guarantee of worth as anyone. It looks like the stoopid Yankees are going to sign Ramirez, though.

I'll solve it in one - "Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck.

It was a very noble sacrifice.

Don't tell TheMaker, but the Staples Singers' version of "The Weight" is one of the holiest things I have ever heard in my life and almost singlehandedly made me believe in God again.

Well, we shall see. The absence of Burress has a real effect - it totally changes how teams defend the Giants and how Eli plays. Not to take anything away from Dallas or Philly - they both played very well with a lot of intensity, which the Giants could not match. Had Jacobs been available, it might have been a closer game. If the Giants continue to play like this, they will not last long in the playoffs. But it's OK. Nothing could match last year's playoff run, which I submit was the best in NFL history.

Without Burress and Jacobs, the offense do not look that good. Eh bien.

The Decemberists sing about Valerie Plame
bjorn_skurj replied to LouieB's topic in Someone Else's Song
You yourself would state that there is no such thing as "fact" when it comes to music, so I apologize if you did not take the "IMO" thing as read. Too bad there isn't sabermetrics for music, so you could bombard us with a bunch of Star Trek-sounding acronyms. IMO, Colin Meloy can't sing, writes dumb songs that sound like they were taken from Cliff's Notes of Dickens novels and dresses badly. He has about as much talent as that dude in Nickelback. That better? -

Jesus. Ween has more musical quality in their little finger than 10 Colin Meloys. -

I can take that dude's voice for about one song before I want to listen to something else. -
No Electricity, No Heat - New England

Why anyone would move to Watertown from basically anywhere on Earth is a bit puzzling to me. -

Yes. To this day, I wonder why people live in Buffalo. -

The 1993 one I remember - I think we got just shy of two feet of snow here. No clear recollection of the 1996 one, but I am sure it sucked as well. -

That story set off Rod Stewart's "Mandolin Wind" in my head just now. -

There are some rough parts of those cities, not to mention about 10,000 drunken college students. -

Not really labor's finest hour, this.

Aww. She is one of the handful of historical babes I could get it up for.

Oh, about 100 percent or so.

Eh, it is hat. It is certainly not better than the original. Was there any more talk of the 1908 Boston-on-a-red-sock logo?
