I guess, but damn I've never been a fan of bands announcing (and selling tickets) for shows more than a year in advance. I guess that's somewhat par for the course in most of the world, though. It's starting to get that way over here, too.

Just for the record, I found out Stubb's has a hard curfew of 10:30 on weeknights. So I was a bit off on my projected set times. Now figure William Tyler 7-7:30, Wilco 8-10:30. Sorry.

Opener is William Tyler; he should play from 7:30-8 and Wilco will probably be on by about 8:20 or so, if I had to guess.

So this was the surprise acoustic in-store performance at the venerable Waterloo Records, and it was cool to hear Jeff reminisce about playing one of Wilco's earliest-ever shows at Waterloo (and naming the exact date: March 18, 1995); about Uncle Tupelo recording Give Back The Key To My Heart with Doug Sahm not far away from where they were standing; and about discovering Daniel Johnston through Waterloo in the early 1990s and buying all of Johnston's cassettes, which Jeff said he still has. Forgot to add that it seemed like the crowd really came alive after Art Of Almost, giving the band an extended, loud ovation. Often you see that after Impossible Germany, but as with that song, Jeff pointed toward Nels to receive the bulk of the applause.

I couldn't attend, but just crossposting the setlist from Wilcoworld/Wilco Facebook so this one doesn't get lost in the shuffle. Noteworthy if only for the fact that this might be the first non-acoustic show instance in which Star Wars hasn't been played in its entirety and straight through to start the set. A momentous night in New Orleans for Wilco, which christened the newly restored — and pretty gorgeous, I must say — Orpheum Theater with its first (rock) concert in a decade.
