  3. Can anyone help me with a research question I'm working on? I wonder how long after an album is release do most of its sales occur. Does anyone have an idea on how to guess at how fast sales slow down following an album's release date, after say one week, one month, or three months. Thanks for any thoughts or anecdotes, Bob
  4. Thanks for your replies. Pause and Play sounds particularly good.
  5. I am looking for a website that posts information about which music albums will be/were released on which day (Tuesday). In particular, I would like a site that separates out reissues so that I can see only albums on their first release. Also, several sites I find only list this and upcoming weeks, but not last week and the weeks in last month. I would like both future and recent past. Googling brings up some options but ones that require sorting out reissues. Any advice? Thanks!
  6. If I understand if correctly, Foxmarks syncs your bookmarks across all computers you use. If so, Opera does this without an extension by signing up for Opera Link http://www.opera.com/link/ I sync between my home, office, and Blackberry Storm. Works perfectly but I've never used Foxmarks so I can't compare them. Also, the Opera Link website also lets you log in and access your bookmarks (and notes) from anywhere.
  7. Netflix instant viewing is now possible in Firefox (and Opera incidentally). I think it requires the Silverlight plugin.
  8. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

  10. I'm planning to go to the Nashville show as well. Never seen Son Volt despite being a long-time fan.
  11. I've been using Opera for a while now and love it. Couldn't imagine switching to any other browser.
  12. Pretty good discussion of this here: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=24705
  13. The only ones I've listened to enough to know will rank for the year (in rough order): Hayden - In Field & Town Kathleen Edwards - Asking For Flowers British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music? Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend She & Him - Volume One Fleet Foxes - Ragged Wood. Is the Jamie Lidell better than the last one? I thought it was really inconsistent so I haven't bother to check the new one out.
  14. I have several to Libble and another place as well. Send me a PM if you're interested.
  15. "This union may never be perfect, but generation after generation has shown that it can always be perfected." I keep a list of favorite quotes and wanted to add this to it. Does anyone know if it originated with Obama? I know that speeches sometimes draw on/play off of other passages/speeches/texts, but this was unfamiliar to me and I wanted to make sure to appropriately attribute it. Thanks.
  16. My top 5 would be: The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society Muswell Hillbillies Arthur or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire Lola Versus Powerman and the Money-Go-Round Something Else. I think Muswell Hillbillies tends to be somewhat polarizing but it can be my favorite depending on my mood. I happen to think Something Else is overrated but I know some people like it a lot as well. I'd say that Village Green is the best place to start if you already know their hits.
  17. I have lots of libble invites (none to anywhere else). PM me your email address and I'll send it along. Please remember to include your email address in the PM.
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?sectio...&id=3001066 "Wilson said he purchased the substance last fall to help him deal with the impact of diabetes. He has had problems with fatigue, kidney function, vision and sleep patterns because of the illness."
  19. Here's an interesting solution from Wade Phillips: "Let the defense have the same coach-to-player communication device the offense has to send in the play to the quarterback. That way, signaling in plays is eliminated, along with the obvious real temptation to somehow steal the signals."
  20. It seems more pop-oriented, but it really grew on me. I've listened to Decimate so many times that I think I'm starting to get worn out on it.
  21. David Ford - Songs For The Road Someone (?) from this board turned me on his last album, but I haven't heard any discussion of the new one. I like it even better.
  22. It's part of the game is not a good argument. Lots of pitchers would tell you that doing lots of things to the ball is part of the game. I see the point though and I see that stealing signals is different than bugging the away locker room or hacking into the headset channel, but using a video camera seems to have crossed the line of just stealing signals. Depending on their defense, I've lost respect for Belicheck.
  23. Interesting argument. It seems like with so many ways to use technology to steal signals, we need the rule now more than ever. Do you think it's ok to steal signal or that it's just irresponsible not to obscure them better?
