  1. Some sort of rule or other (fire regulations?) kept them from letting more than (I think) 12 people stand around in the lobby, so only those foolish enough to have been there for WAY longer than 2 hours got ushered in. The 930 staff also fed us ginger snaps. They were really terrible ginger snaps, but the thought was lovely. Letting us in was really just to get us out of the weather -- getting to hear soundcheck was incidental.
  2. Those two shows sold out in five minutes -- and that was the regular sale, not the pre-sale. I think previous shows have sold out in a relatively normal half an hour or so. And thanks for the reminder of a lovely line experience, Greg. A sunny spring-like day for the first show, followed by the freakish blizzard for the second, and great folks in line for both.
  3. It is one thousand broiling degrees here, and the autumn tree pictures in this thread are making me feel much better.
  4. Not to mention it's the place where I first met andrewdowdall, and where I threatened to meet welsh rich!
  5. >>take the hike up Arthurs Seat for a great view of what I think is one of the prettiest cities I've seen. I second this (and most everything else mentioned about edinburgh in this thread). Definitely this, though. It's steep, but very worth it.
  6. Oh, bless you, you just made my day, and it's not even anywhere near my birthday! I'm glad you had a great one.
  7. Nice nice beautiful. Thank you.

    Wilco sign

Yep, they're scattered about around there.
  9. Happy Birthday, Evonne! It's going to be a GREAT year! (hope that's enough)

    Lets Fight.mp3

Things are often pretty quiet around here on the weekends -- my guess is someone will help you out on Monday (when it'll be a nice distraction from work )
  11. Well, there goes my "that's so hilarious, she must've made it up" theory.

    Jim O'Rourke

Yeah, but if you type "JiM O'rourke" into google you get 673,000 sites returned. Thus is it proved!
  13. What's with the unnecessary divisiveness fosterage? It was a pretty straighforward conversation -- GroseLicain was asserting inaccurate information, the mistake was corrected in a perfectly sensible way ("No, actually, it's LeRoy Bach"), and then he got all snippy and "okaaaaaaaay, chief" about it. Any snarkiness thereafter was kinda asked for.
  14. They're holding steady in DC: they played 930 Club last time, and they're playing 930 Club again (GA). The Decemberists were kind of good-enough/meh a couple of times that I saw them, and totally great a couple more times. Which makes me wonder if I should brave the 15-year-olds in order to see them again.
  15. That was one of the biggest and giddiest post-show get-togethers that I can recall. And The Ms held up their end of the diner very well.
  16. What would be truly wonderful is if someone had a recording of Nels' covering this song at Largo last month. There were only about 40 people in the audience, so I'm guessing it's never going to surface, but I sure would love ` to hear it again. Maybe every member of Wilco should cover this song, either solo or as a side project. OK, I admit it, I'm a dork.
  17. Perfect! I've been calling Nels my favorite Wilco for a while now.
  18. I fall in love with this guy semi-regularly.
  19. Ha, you're right, it isn't hyperbole, and I thank you. I'm only sad the weekend's over, because it was a good one. Wish me an unfull flight on the way home, please.
  20. Nope! We were almost spared tonight, but they got us a table at the last minute, so we had to eat the "food".
  21. Gregg was totally amazingly hilarious, especially his World Cup stuff. And his mocking of Connecticut. About getting into Largo -- I've been lucky that each time I've called for a reservation, I got a call back, and the other times I've piggybacked on pneyu's reservation. But if I hadn't gotten the call back this time, I would've gone and lined up early enough to ensure I got one of the bar seats or standing spots. The place is really REALLY small, so being in the back doesn't mean anything bad.
