Nope, legally they can't, but sometimes they do, mostly because they need to pay the bills, too. I always get things worked out, but I just wanted to let Nobody Girl know about the possibility. But hopefully she saw the show and loved it like we did and got home just fine!

Yes, they broke it to me gently, and even so, I'm sure the wailing could be heard for miles. I'll look forward to trying out the new stuff, but I'm not sure I'll be able to recognize Largo if it starts becoming a fine dining experience. So VERY not likely...

Maybe it's a coincidence, but it seems to have become a bit of a tradtion to play more out-of-the-way places for the last GA show of the tour, like Tempe, Buffalo, and this one. I had really memorable nights at all three of them. I would've been easier to have been less in the middle of nowhere, but then we wouldn't have had the highly enjoyable l-o-n-g drive in through the Pennsylvania countryside. It was pretty fun, and it's nice having an excuse to go to weird places.

Same for me (I'd avoided listening to recorded versions of the new songs), and I absolutely loved it. I'm always happy when Jeff embraces his inner screamer. and the drum solo is inspired. At first it feels a bit like a really well-done parody of yer classic flashy drummer spotlight bit, but then Glenn's drumming genius becomes apparent, and it's not mocking any more, it's just music. Nicely done!

Yeah, me, too, with the 930 club being one of them There were barricades at all three of the shows I saw this week, but they were really close, and they didn't cause any harm. I imagine it can't be easy to try to make music when you're wondering if some beer-soaked fool is going to pull a copy cat stunt. If the barricades keep them from feeling jumpy, I'm in favor, if only for the sake of the songs. It's pretty unfair that all those headlines said he punched the guy in the face when he obviously didn't, especially in light of how generous Jeff is with fans. The non-face-grabbing kind,

I just got back from a three show jaunt, with my hometown show being sandwiched in the middle. I hadn't seen Wilco in six months or so, and it was fantastic to have them back. Most everything sounded fresh again, plus I love the new stuff like crazy. And the crowd was fantastic -- nice and loud cheering-wise, but without chatters or stupid shouted comments. My only complaint would be due to my having arm surgery three weeks ago, meaning my arm's in a sling, meaning I can't clap my hands. Not only does that put a damper on my expressions of enthusiasm, there's a LOT of audeience partic

Are you dressing up as Jeff for Halloween?
-
Nah, it's not difficult to find a cab after a show -- if there aren't any out front, just walk over to U Street. Will you be going to Union Station? I've had cab drivers not want to take me to places where they won't easily get a fare back, but Union Station should be no problem

You know, I used to like her a little, too... (Only 10 more days and I get to sample the NEW MENU, too. I'm kinda scared about that part.)

Wow, that crowd shot should be the illustration for the dictionary definition of "giddy"! (and those other two shots are beautiful, as yours usualy are)

and you thought your summerteeth LP was worth $$$

Hahaha! A $600 typo. Way to give yourself a heart attack. -
Wow, so a guy was standing with his back to the stage the whole show, and when Jeff asks about it, the guy's friends explain that he's having a bad trip? Yow, Jeff has a truly surreal job!
-
Why did the guy have his back turned through the whole show?

I do my contributions at the end of the month, so that's when I'll do mine. I think a penny a post is a good idea, so it's good for VC if I wait and rack up more, anyway.

Now, that's one excellent Nels photo.

Awwwww. You're responsible for an awful lot of good times. Thanks a zillion.

Exactly, especially if you add High Heeled Sneakers into that mix. Just love it.

It's a million times easier to find homes for kittens than it is for older cats, so it'd be a kindness to round 'em right up and take them in. If you can't do it before you leave, maybe you can ask someone to put food out for them while you're gone?

If that's the one where he says (jokingly) how embarassing it will be when such a compilation surfaces, then that should definitely be the last snippet of the collection.

Kande and I are keeping you in our warmest thoughts. and my heart is breaking on your behalf. Much love to you. Heidi

Join the crowd! I'm so happy for you, yay yay yay.

Me too! That paragraph deserves a standing ovation smiley or six, if only I had some.

The opening act for Wilco's 930 club date has this on their website (emphasis added): Just in case there are some of you who haven't already given $120 to the scalpers. http://melomane.org/

I think just having the name "splint cozy" is pretty much all I need in life. That and a grilled cheese-tomato-avocado sandwich (especially if it's hand-dyed).
