  1. Unless he worked up some choreography without me knowing, I think it's Monkey CHANT. The idea of Glenn doing a monkey dance is pretty compelling, though...
  2. New Jonathan Lethem!!? Yay, thank you!
  3. So does a little politeness, but I guess DragEtc. has his own friend-making strategies.
  4. If any of those videos contains the Immigrant Song snippet, I'd be grateful to anyone who could tell me which one!
  5. I'm curious -- which are considered the abrasive parts?
  6. Eeeek, I'm sending soothing thoughts to your computer.
  7. We have crickets in our basement regularly, they sound wonderful, but our cats also eat them regularly. I often find little cricket pieces scattered about the house. It doesn't leave me with much of a housekeeping reputation. Fortunately, I am no longer a member of PETA, otherwise I'd have to turn my cats in to the authorities.
  8. If you produce a picture of Ms. Y not holding a coffee cup, I'm going to call shenanigans of the photoshop variety!
  9. My travel reading this weekend: I can't talk about the plot, because there are surprisey bits, but I can say that I love it love it love it. I've still got about 50 pages left, so it's possible it'll go sour, but I don't think so.
  10. Yay! I'm glad you made it in. And I'm also pretty relieved you turned down that pizza, it sounds dangerous. Ms. Y, I believe the Death Cab gentleman was there just a little bit before 7:30.
  11. Oops! We were on the road, and not checking in here much at all. Alison was right -- the line was pretty substantial by 7:30. Did you get in? It was a very intense show, and Heroes is still roaring around in my head. Eeesh, that man is glorious.
  12. Heehee. Ah, you quoted me too quickly -- I deleted my post when I realized we were talking about the Canal Room shows (where he said he'd be back soon, and so far has not returned) rather than the earlier Tonic shows, where he said he'd be back in June, and came back in October. My head is spinning now, but I guess the fact that he didn't promise to return to Chicago should have told us something! Oh, and Brianne, that "Jon Brion -- TONIGHT!" kept giving me heart palpitations while I was endlessly refreshing the page last night.
  13. It's so NOT going to be the same as the original Crowded House, but those songs are so amazing that it'll be joy to see them performed again. I'm looking forward to seeing at least one or two of them.
  14. Ah, with a venue that small, it seems like 90% of the place probably knew each other. I knew it'd be a great one, wish I coulda been there!
  15. Just finished this: and it was really fun reading.
  16. He said something about the article?

    Jeff Solo

Jim didn't open for him, but he played Not for the Season and Ruling Class with Jeff (and Glenn, who did open) when Jeff played the Tribeca Arts Center in NY. It was quite great.
  18. It seemed way longer than that, but that was possibly just due to the generous pee break. I'm pretty sure their babysitter got in a little overtime that night, though.
  19. Eeesh, I've seen him do the no-mic delivery quite a few times, and it's pretty much always guaranteed to make everyone go appreciatively silent. Plenty of the folks in that crowd sound over-served and under-considerate.

    Obama

My mother-in-law is a heartland conservative who, like many heartland conservatives, is big time sickened by Bush and his cronies. I never would have predicted she'd support Obama -- she's not someone who likes radical change, and race-wise, she'd consider him radical change. Upon listening to him speak ONCE though, she went out immediately and bought his bio and is now a big fan of his. Charisma matters, and Obama does make people feel he's trustworthy and can lead. Add in the fact that he's smart and the fact that people are sick of morally bankrupt fools running our country into the
  21. Rock Tourists RULE, they rule wisely and well and rockingly! Maybe the Jon-wise Denver people were friends of my sister. I've been pelting her with JB bootlegs for years now.
  22. You're Lamentable, but you're wonderful. Happy Birthday!!
