dvd ripper/burning software suggestions?
street spirit replied to street spirit's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
awesome. thanks for the suggestions (although, im on a pc - i know, i know)... and for the forum link. -
So, I just got a new computer that came with a DVD burner, so I'm pretty amped that I can download video boots of shows now, but I was just curious if there was a "definitive" software setup for video stuff. I've got Nero, but was wondering if there was some consensus on a EAC/Feurio (which is how I burn my CD boots) equivalent for DVDs.

I was with you right up until the "...like Neko" part. Neko has an undeniably classic singing voice, whereas you just said Matt doesn't have a "pretty" voice. Neko is like... I dunno... Jeff Buckley or something. Not to say that I don't enjoy M.Ward, and not to say that I wouldn't agree on the "timeless" comment, but it's a bit a weird comparison.

i like quite a bit of rocknroll, but im sorta glad to hear this is a demo... i wasn't really feeling it as a song, regardless of style.

You can probably make an argument for the Woods, but Dig Me Out is loads better than One Beat.

just the one track that Jagjaguwar sent out is floating around... it's not out til November, so I wouldn't expect a leak for awhile. Now that I said that I'm going to be proved wrong tomorrow or something.

last time i went to see him the show had gotten cancelled when i was in the car from vancouver to seattle... and even though he has a month off between the east/west coast dates, there's no seattle date

I'm heading down to Portland on Aug 11th-13th and was just wondering if any VC'ers could suggest some things to see/do while I'm there... we'll be watching Sleater-Kinney on Fri/Sat night... so daytime stuff. thx.

i'm still most partial to "the Start of Something"... but this song is also quite splendid.

No, I don't think Ann Coulter could ever even attempt to approach a fraction of Hitler's evil. but this quiz is still hilarious: http://www.people.virginia.edu/~jac3he/Giv...z/gradequiz.php i only got 10/14

I already have Pyschocandy and Darklands on cd and vinyl... these worth picking up? I dont really end up watching bonus dvds all that much, so i doubt id get much mileage out ofthe flipside of the dual disc.. if its a massive improvement in sound though... pop songs and feedback is such a beautiful combination.

the biggest indie store here just expanded a couple of years ago, and despite the ability to preview via the internet, there's still heaps of people waiting to listen to cds on a saturday afternoon. i even do it myself sometimes. its a different sorta thing to sit in a record store for a couple of hours on a rainy day, rather than having had listened to everything already, and just pop in to pick up exactly what you want. the future is not completely bleak.

i havent even gotten the urge to throw pink or the blue album on lately... and they used to be one of my favourite bands. the new one was terrible. i downloaded it, and felt like id wasted bandwith.

James Dean Bradfield (Manics) Interview
street spirit replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Someone Else's Song
I liked This Is My Truth as well. Know Your Enemy and Lifeblood, not so much. The Holy Bible is still my undisputed, untouchable, hands-down favourite though. The solo record is ok. -
Am I the only one who finds it ironic for Erlewine to call anyone "pretentious"?

the place he's playing in Vancouver just might be the finest place to see music in the city... well, a sit-down show, anyhow. cathedrals arent too good for rocking out, but the place is gorgeous looking, and has matching acoustics.

a long hot summer, to be exact.

They were really nice guys when I interviewed them last year... Stephen Carroll even insisted I drink Wild Turkey and sing "Jeremy" on Karaoke while waiting for John K. As much as I love to see them live, I really wish theyd get into the studio.. theyve been touring this record forever.

guitars.... cheap ones: Yamaha acoustic... im not sure what the model is. Gibson L6-S Amp: 64' Fender Princeton... it's little, but its all tube. i just mic it if i play anywhere. Effects: a cheap tuner Ibanez Tube Screamer Big Muff reissue Boss Chorus Boss Analog Delay I would really like a reverb unit... and Line 6 Delay.. but mostly for looping vocals whilst playing live.
