  1. it was only on a soundtrack, no? Fubar, i believe.
  2. its got to be wider grooves, because technically 12" LPs at 33 1/3 can hold 30 minutes or so per side... so YHF could fit on one LP
  3. apparently only if they make the joke.
  4. in no particular order: Jeff Magnum Dan Bejar Stephen Merritt Elliott Smith Morrissey/Marr Chan Marshall Tweedy Colin Meloy Frank Black Robert Pollard I can't believe no one said Magnum yet.
  5. if you click on "teleport" each of the yellow buttons streams some "country songs" not as funny, but close. Staten Island!!!
  6. I was under the impression he was open-tuned... based on looking at his hands and thinking "those are some funny shaped chords" coupled with him sliding said chords all over and being able to strum certain strings open that would be the wrong chords, were he in standard tuning.
  7. wow. that is unexpected, but wonderful news.
  8. this is a touch hyperbolic (only a touch)... but this might be the best thing on the internet.
  9. Yeah... it's not like the trainwrecks are even all that interesting. It's not like she pulls a tantrum and smashes up the joint or anything. It's usually just uncomfortable silence and walking off stage, which isn't even entertaining in that "oh look a car crash" way. Neko will surely be a professional and tight sounding set, but honestly I've always found her a bit boring live. Yes she has an amazing voice, and yes she is very pretty, and yes her songs are quite good... but depending on who she's backed by, it's so close to the record live (shows with the Sadies, notwithstanding). plus, C
  10. i was under the impression that that's actually how he got away without clearing the sample, legally... which, of course, doesnt excuse it artistically
  11. if the comments on rap reflect Rolling Stones' current audience, that explains why they continue to strive to be so terribly irrelevant.
  12. I concur. III is my favourite. "Out on the Tiles" and "Since Ive Been Loving You"
  13. the Black Album is pretty classic... but I would argue that the Blueprint might be his masterpiece. If anyone can save something Chris Martin got his hands on, it's Ron Sexsmith... and also Jay-Z.
  14. I am more hyped for the extra 20gbs of capacity and text based search... but gapless playback is also rad.
  15. i listened to Swan Lake (the one that is good, but not mindblowing) at a friend's place. He wouldn't tell me how he got it, and said he was sorry, but there was no way he could make me a copy. i was just pleased to hear it, so i didn't push the issue. if you dig around here there are four tracks that have leaked (All Fires, Are You Swimming In Her Pools?, Nubile Days - all with spencer on lead vox, and The Freedom - with Dan singing, which is the best thing on the record, imo... but im a Destroyer fanatic) I got a Hold Steady promo, cause im doing an interview with Craig and Tad tomorrow (
  16. im psyched for the actual releases of: from the observer: jarvis cocker, joanna newsom, lupe fiasco that people mentioned: the rapture, tvotr with a regular price tag and i will add: swan lake and the hold steady, one of which is awesome, one of which is pretty ok.
  17. its a still more of which is good, if you ask me. they were a ton of fun when i saw them last week.
  18. Destroyer - Rubies Neutral Milk Hotel - Oh Comely Broken Social Scene - Deathcock the VU - Oh! Sweet Nuthin the Decemberists - Bagman's Gambit Blur - Tender
  19. Royal Albert Hall just might be the best Spiritualized release. I adore Ladies and Gentlemen, but the songs really take off on the live record.
  20. apparently someone got you two already.
