  1. It's either a traditional tune or a Nina Simone song... im not sure which. The Constantines covered it for the BSide of Young Lions, which is the only reason I knew. Off topic, but I've always wondered... is that smiley supposed to be winking or grimacing?
  2. I still think Mushaboom is her best song, but I like this album better on the whole. I think it should be mentioned that "Sea Lion Woman" is a cover... so she didn't quite write everything.
  3. I'll be at Sasquatch again this year... the first day sort of kills the second day, but they're both worth attending, imo. http://www.sasquatchfestival.com/
  4. I don't think they typically feature music that you dig, but La Blogotheque and Schedule Two are quite good.
  5. I've seen them twice, and thought they were pretty great both times. The first time there were few shenanigans, but I actually think I liked that more.

  8. ...i have a bad feeling about this
  9. I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I haven't been blown away straight out of the gates yet, but it's definitely growing on me. And Solace is probably bang on with the reviews thing... if you only give it a few listens it's a bit disappointing (at least comparatively)
  10. it's back, and people have completed their d/l
  11. it took me awhile to get into Alligator (other than Mr. November) too. it didn't really grab me right away. i'm pretty amped on "Start a War" (from the Blogotheque vids)
  12. upon consultation with "the google," i regret to inform you that they are merely a band
  13. no doubt. going all the way across Canada is a terrible way to tour (compared to the miles you need to log between most shows in the US).
  14. From where I stand right now, the differences in interface (although i've only played with a Zune briefly) seem pretty negligible either way and I don't listen to the radio... so the iPod wins out because the biggest one is bigger.
  15. i want to be in chicago or california this summer so. very. badly.
  16. While I'm not really a Santana fan, I can definitely see how many a sane and rational music fan would purchase the record before hearing it, so I totally get what you're saying.... now that the radio singles have been forever drilled into people's minds there's no excuse though. Pirate!
  17. If the Blues come out next season like they're ending this season, I don't think they'll have any problems winning teams back... apparently they're lowering ticket prices as well.
  18. if i ever willingly own Supernatural, i hope i'm defined soon afterward by a self-inflicted hole in my head.
  19. My second comment about places with fancy arenas and crappy support was meant more generally, and it was a bit unfair to lump KC into that... I do stand by the fact that the NHL's still going to be third in the pro sports pecking order. Obviously the NFL is untouchable anywhere they are, and MLB still loads bigger than hockey will ever be. And I never mentioned the Scouts, because I agree with you that that has nothing to do with anything right now. St. Louis and Chicago will probably remain grim attendance-wise for a year or two, but that will bounce back when the teams do. It's places like
  20. I walked out on Fly Pan Am the second time I saw them, after they had "reinvented" themselves... on Vetiver and Califone, but mostly because both of the shows went super late on a school/work night and I was tired. And I walked out on Hot Hot Heat after about 4 songs the last time I saw them.
  21. No offense to any fans in Nashville (because I know there are some great ones - the few, the proud), but I still can't fathom how the hell they thought they were going to sell hockey there. If they moved, I really would feel bad for the fans that they do have, but its certainly wouldn't be all that surprising or disappointing to me. The Pens on the other hand... not only is Pittsburgh a great hockey town, but there's two Stanley Cups there (not to mentions Super Mario's career). It would be a real shame if they moved, especially to somewhere like KC where they go in at 3rd in the Pro Sports
  22. I agree that Up is terribly underrated, but I also think that you are terribly wrong about how it fairs against New Adventures.
  23. one of the things about the Hip though, is that a lot of people have a cult-like attachment to them, which plays into their live reputation. That being said, I don't necessarily think you need to be a die-hard to enjoy them, but you'll probably enjoy them more if you're at least somewhat familiar with the more popular parts of their catalogue.
