  1. based on your reaction, i would venture a guess that, in fact, you don't get it.
  2. he sounds very very good live... but he's not the most engaging performer in the world.
  3. Opening Credits: Nas - the Set Up Waking Up: The What Four - I'm Gonna Destroy That Boy (apparently i wake up gay, or as a straight lady) Monday: Chemical Bros - Where Do I Begin (that's rather fitting for monday) Fight Song: Matthew Friedberger - Moral and Epilogue Breaking up: Kanye West - We Don't Care Prom: Bright Eyes - True Blue Life: The Futureheads - Alms Mental Breakdown: Sarah Slean - Drastic Measures Driving: Blood Bros - Every Breath is a Bomb Flashback: Erase Errata - Surprise, It's Easter Getting Back Together: Smashing Pumpkins - 1979 Wedding: Sahara Hotnig
  4. on Pearl Jam's NA tour this year they played over 90 of their own tunes, and a couple dozen different covers... if you count songs that get partially tagged onto Daughter it was over 125. On last year's Canadian tour, that was only 16 dates, they did 97 unique songs. For the record, I'm perfectly happy with any Wilco performance I get to see, but knowing how to play what seems like a huge amount of songs isn't necessarily an impossibility.
  5. Stereogum has an mp3 up of her singing "Summertime" and it aint half bad
  6. i take it matador doesnt have a list of participating stores then? ...i will also bet that this offer is only available in america-land. booooooo. maybe ill preorder from insound and pay the exchange.
  7. i picked it up at one of his shows last month... i think its also available through his website.
  8. i like Her Majesty second best... but I agree about Castaways.
  9. Radiohead (although HTTT was sorta meh) Cat Power Broken Social Scene the Hold Steady the Constantines Destroyer unfortunately, not Sleater-Kinney any longer
  10. the new one is a bit meh... although the last one was a bit meh. regardless, Madonna and Source Tags are still awesome, and they'll still probably be freakishly good live. maybe Jason was conserving his energy for the tour.
  11. i was assuming theyll be making warheads, but i spose your correct, that they could make nuclear artillery shells... at any rate, he's safe from N.Korean nukes in N. America
  12. Jeff and Family, My sincerest condolences.
  13. - Don Delillo's Great Jones Street and this
  14. only a Torontonian would desecrate our pretty flag with that filth. Even though we lost to the Avs last night, I'm pretty amped on a 2-1-0 start for the 'nucks... and you can keep Bert, we'll gladly take Luongo. I don't think he's actually a man, but in fact, a robot sent from the future to stop pucks that are labeled as sure goals.
  15. i wouldn't worry too much, unless your major metropolitan area is Seoul or Tokyo... even then, there's probably a good chance that their shitty missiles will fail before they reach their target.
  16. I will fully admit to listening to this because PFork gave it the blessed "best new music" tag... and because the description seemed right up my alley... but here is my dilemna: I currently have 1 ticket for Sufjan Stevens on the night Califone is in Vancouver... I have currently put out the feelers to try and find two tickets to Yo La Tengo the night Califone is in Vancouver... If I get a reviewer pass to YLT, I pretty much have to go there, but if not, would I kick myself forever for missing this? (I've seen Sufjan twice, for the record, and in retrospect, am not in love with his music o
  17. Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - House Fire Leeroy Stagger - Beautiful House the Rapture - House of Jealous Lovers
  18. http://www.the-collective.net/~sashwap/media.html the "drone version" of "Bucket" is my favourite NMH song everrrr.
  19. awww... but i dont want to wait for shipping... nor pay the exchange.
  20. If you haven't been to More Cowbell today, you shold probably go check out The Hold Steady Guide to the Twin Cities that he posted. 'Cause it's awesome, and if you're like me, and have never been to Minn., you'll know where to go to have massive nights and positive jams... also, Boys and Girls in America comes out today, and it's also awesome.
  21. I went to a comedy show a couple of weeks ago, and one of the comics' entire routine was mostly jokes about why Dane Cook was terrible... which were funny in and of themselves, but apparently hilarious if you knew who Dane Cook is, which I did not.
  22. according to their website they're touring that leg of the tour with some band called Immigrant. http://immigrantmusic.com/
