  1. Not that the record is shoddy lyrically - far from it - but the only song that jumped out at me as really poetic was "Hate it Here"... and the first tune. that's on two listens, mind you. If nothing else, "The Thanks I Get" would have helped diversify the pacing a little more.
  2. hope its still running when i get home from the show im going to tonight... i know itll probably be ripped and mp3d, but im a bit nostalgic for what they mentioned about radio premieres, which they still do. i just cant remember the last time they did a good one.
  3. I think the age thing cuts both ways, with Nels being the case in point... cause his solo stuff is a mindf**k
  4. re: the "dad rock" thing... I guess I come down softly on that side. These are still great songs, and I'm still itching to hear the rest of the record, but the things that really grabbed me with Summerteeth and YHF were that the tracks were all rooted in really great songwriting, but arranged in a way that was really forward thinking. It was the best of both worlds. At the end of the day, Jeff's still one of the best songwriters in the game, so no real complaints about an albums worth of his tunes... but the first time I listened to "You Are My Face" I was hoping that they might let Nels' gu
  5. i kinda wish i lived in Colorado now.
  6. aren't they losing "business" to those blogs though? not saying that i think they should've posted them, but you know what im sayin'
  7. maybe try a higher bitrate.. or lossless? admiration for Colbert aside, it sounds pretty goddamn tasty
  8. this is what i heard... i'm glad youre here to (sorta) confirm it.
  9. the Clipse are supposed to be pretty sweet live... and depending on how much band fighting there's been on the tour to that point, Sunset Rubdown can be kinda crappy... although there's no way to know really.
  10. I wouldn't say my reaction was as strong as theMaker's, but after Essence and World Without Tears, I was sort of left wishing she'd try something a little different. It's not as good as the last two, and definitely not as good as Car Wheels, and there's nothing that new going on... which doesn't leave me all that compelled to listen again.
  11. it's hard to make that more humourous than it already is.
  12. the game was a bit boring after the first half, but congrats to you colt fans out there. has anybody mentioned how awesome Prince was yet?
  13. but then they wouldn't be peddling an inferior product. we couldn't have that. i say this as an XP user.
  14. nice. edit: except the Vancouver date is the same venue/date as the Constantines show. weird.
  15. I just had this emailed to me by someone who has pretty much zero interest in football and probably wouldn't go near espn.com for any reason usually... hopefully that means it's picking up some widespread attention.
  16. i'm still debating whether this person is this clueless about music, and has therefore been led (most likely through joke emails) that some of these bands even go near the issue of sexuality one way or another... or whether it's some sort of brilliant satire.
  17. i am praying that the JaMC set goes so well that they tour.
  18. ugh... I usually turn off the record before Backseat now. thx for the tip on Vancouver, Kyle
  19. these "friends" of yours... i fear them.
