the irvine fire was arson. i don't believe causes have been identified for the SD fires.
-
I think I am interested in the last 7 songs... I can't recall ever seeing or hearing of them...
-
the fire in my hometown (san marcos) has been fully contained so my parents are fine for now... but so many others are not. the numbers of evacuated are astounding... I can't imagine where 300,000 people flee to. having had to evacuate once for a fire close to my home in 96 or 97, i can say that it is truly surreal... you never think a fire will just plow through your town. that night back then over 100 homes were lost... preliminary numbers from these fires are over 1000 already.

The fires in San Diego are insanely bad- supposedly worse than the 2003 fires that rained ash on the county for days. My family is sitting around waiting for an evacuation order. my childhood home

i totally agree with JT being a quiet disc... especially when you get to Mothers of the Disappeared. I always have to crank the volume WAY up. I'm on my 3rd or 4th disc of the Joshua Tree... its the only cd I've ever "used up" like a cassette.
-
yeah, thats what it is. the documentary was an mtv special... nothing like "Cribs." Yeah, I looove the photo in the gatefold of the Joshua tree. It is stunning.

I'm thrilled now that I know the DVD is going to include Outside Its America. Now I can own that special on something other than VHS (which I think I did a b+p for!). Its an awesome picture of what was going on at that time- all the excitement, huge concerts, etc but juxtaposed with U2 in a dumpy bar in the desert, bono singing in the streets next to abandoned railroad tracks, etc. Thats probably a nightmare for a lot of people but I enjoy it! The Joshua Tree is my favorite album ever, I used to listen to it every day in junior high... I'm sure I've heard it thousands of times. There is

How long do the shows usually last?
alison the wilca replied to fiveleavesleft's topic in Just A Fan
Wilco almost always ends by 11pm. you can be done and gone to be back just in time. a friend of mine went to a nazarene university in san diego that had a stricter curfew than that (due to tijuana being rather close) so it isn't as bad as some have it? -
thanks, guys! kris is making me cupcakes

crispin will be back in chicago in all his weird glory... http://www.musicboxtheatre.com/itisfine.html
-
gotcha. thanks.

kris and i were at the chicago theatre last weekend and saw wilco on a chicago theatre flyer. the problem was that we saw it from a distance, not close up, so i have no idea why they were on it. also, is it bad to say i'd rather a solo show that weekend? i like to keep things low key.

i just picked these up for 9.99 in a size 11 these cost a little bit more but are my new favorite fall shoe..
-
yeah, people submit some awesome photos to him... I just wish it had said where, specifically, these were taken! I know it was in the general chicago vicinity at least.

Its the first day of autumn... a little warm here in Chicago but I bought some pumpkins at the farmer's market this weekend anyway. anyone have leaf peeping/pumpkin patching/apple picking plans?
-
that show was pretty fun but how in the world did my request for the unwelcome guest go unheeded?!
-
don't use safari... i had to switch to firefox to get it to go.

Best and worst venues you've seen Wilco play
alison the wilca replied to tugmoose's topic in Just A Fan
This really was the worst. Its not really a "venue" so I didn't put it down but this was just so painful. Wilco should NEVER go on a stage before John Mayer. I couldn't even count the number of pink leopard print cowboy hats in the crowd that night. -
all of the Lollapalooza shows ended at 10... I'm guessing thats the noise curfew.
