skyflynn
Since I like to think of you as the curator of all the garden gnomes on earth, I thought I'd send you one that was more reflective of my own personality, one that really says "me". I hope we both haunt your dreams. Happy Birthday!

Beltmann
Happy birthday, Kristina! You were among the very first VCers to welcome me here, and also among the very first VCers I met out there in "reality." Miss seeing you around!
woman at the bar
aww, the VC birthday threads still do the job of warming the heart. Thanks, pals. 30 feels great and Puerto Rico was one of the best ways to ring it in. we were actually on Vieques, the southeast island occupied by the US Navy for over 60 years. It's been "back" in the hands of the locals for 3 now and perhaps the void of tourism has been a good thing. It was truly a jungle in some parts! Tropical paradise nonetheless... with gorgeous flowers ("her children stir her Bougainvillea blooms...") we also went to the national rainforest for a few hikes and every day had adventures in the world under the sea a very memorable and beautiful trip. I hope to go back!

explodo
This book, America's Dream by Esmeralda Santiago, takes place on that island. It isn't very good.
