paauwe
i got into wilco about a year and a half ago. Introdcued by A Ghost is Born. I then of course got more and more into them and did research ect ect. I breifly knew about all of the lineup changes. But up until a few days ago i had always thought Nels was in the band during the making of AGIB. Kinda depressing, the guitarwork in AGIB is amazing, the sick overdrive and sonic guitar solos, i thought it was the work of a god, nels cline himself. all well though. So it was the work of Jeff and Jim O'Rourke, O'Rourke is the man. If u can say you've been a member of wilco and sonic youth u are awesome. Jeff Tweedy never looks the same. On ACL he looks like like an old pissed of man. When i saw him live he looked like a baby with his haircut. Every time i see him he looks different and has a differenty hair style. He looks the sweetest during the time when he had the beard in the IATTBYH documentary. Doesn't it freak u out how he always looks different.
owl
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that most of the guitar work on AGIB is Jeff's.
tongue-tied
Give Jeff credit for the guitarwork, his solos on AGIB are amazing. and both Jeff and Jim seem to fluctuate with their weight in "whoa is that the same person" ways, but i really couldn't care what they looked like. LouieB
Jeff Tweedy is a shape changer...beware of him..... (Is this place starting to get weird or what???) LouieB
Duck-Billed Catechist
Someone should document the threads about Jeff's change of appearance over the years. Or a timeline. It's kind of amusing. And possibly creepy (the consistent attention to it, that is).

Kalle
Over the last solo and Wilco fall tours he's gone back to the "Summerteeth" look. But here's my favourite. Wolfman Tweedy circa summer '06.
Nonlinear Nonfiction
This thread freaks me out.
WaronWar
Jeff basically does do all the solos as the liner notes show it. He really is a great guitarist. With regards to his look, I do not really care; but I like how he looked like Bob Dylan circa "Nashville Skyline" at Lollapoolza with the beard and the hat.

So Long
this past summer in Florence, I said to Jeff "nice beard.", he goes "no it's not" I thought that was hilarious

Lammycat
But here's my favourite. If Jeff had his arm around me it'd be my favorite, too. But maybe not so much. Or something. My favorite Tweedy "look" is however he looks while I'm seeing him play live music.

pickleboiler
Jeff gets the most out of his ability and style, but he is far from a "great guitarist." He's in the Neil Young mode of guitar players.
gabepride
Neil Young is a crazy-ass guitar god. That is all.
WaronWar
Jeff gets the most out of his ability and style, but he is far from a "great guitarist." He's in the Neil Young mode of guitar players. Neil Young is a great guitarist and so is Jeff Tweedy. They both create a sound to their solo that reflects the overall theme of the song, which to me is way more important than anything Eddie Van Halen creates.

honestgabe
I could have sworn I saw Andrew Bird was credited for his violin part in Hummingbird...maybe it was the viola. Eh
Gobias Industries
I could have sworn I saw Andrew Bird was credited for his violin part in Hummingbird...maybe it was the viola. Eh nope. i'm pretty sure the person who did the viola in Hummingbird did the string parts in Jesus, etc.
aricandover
nope. i'm pretty sure the person who did the viola in Hummingbird did the string parts in Jesus, etc. nope. Jessy Greene, played violin and Fred Lonberg Holm, played cello on Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Karen Waltuch, played viola on A Ghost is Born.
Hixter
Jessy Greene, played violin Former Geraldine Fibber, just like Nels. It's a small world.
