Nonlinear Nonfiction
6. Listen to each song six times - first listen to Tweedy, then Nels, then Glenn, then Sansone and Jorgensen, then try to find Stirratt in there... then listen one more time and enjoy this richly textured record. sureshot
its definitely a grower of a record. im liking it more and more each time i go through it. today the sun is finally out, and its making the album much more enjoyable .
a.miller
I'm probably around 8-10 listens and I like it more each time. At first I was a bit worried.
you ever seen a ghost?
i can't understand why nobody is talking about what a key track "Leave Me (Like You Found Me)" is. i love the entire album, but i'm thinking this one may be the most interesting tracks on the record. -justin
KG499
I agree. Why is "Leave Me (Like You Found Me)" not getting more love? It's one of my favorites
Reagent
I didn't like Hate It Here or Shake It Off at first but now I have the feeling they are quite SBS
wilconut
I've listened to it four times, twice in a car and twice on my headphones. I, like Reagent, really dig Hate It Here, and Leave Me (Like You Found Me) is pretty solid too. Sky Blue Sky, the song, is so soft and lovely to listen to as well. Impossible Germany has to be my favorite though...
jdmel
i loved it at first btu was still worried it was the wilco obsession talking but you are my face might be my new favorite wilco song... but yea it takes a few listens through to spot everyone and thats awesome, always finding something new
Gobias Industries
It takes precisely 2 x pi x r^2 times to get this album, where r is the width of your monitor, in feet.
groovingdan
Do you guys have mp3s of the whole record? If so can you pm me?
BryLe
after about 6 listens, i still cannot get into 'Shake it Off.' I think for me, it's the 'I'm a Wheel' of SBS.
darkstar
listened to it 3 times now......getting more interesting each time
Chris_H_2
I agree. Why is "Leave Me (Like You Found Me)" not getting more love? It's one of my favorites I like it as well. But it reminds me of an REM song off of Reveal.
wilconut
I like it as well. But it reminds me of an REM song off of Reveal. OMG! That's what I thought the first time I heard it, but more like something off of Up.
GutenAbend
at least 10 good listens.
TheMaker
Re: Leave Me (Like You Found Me) "Everybody's taaaaaaaaalkin' at me..." Every time I hear this song, I want Jeff to start aping Nilsson's honking vocal solo. I like the song okay, but it's awfully slight compared to much of the record, and it's not as fun as the other straightforward numbers. Pretty, though.

fairherald
does anybody else think the piano strikes on the last part of Walken are slightly off, like a little ahead of the beat? Perhaps a recording gaffe?
BobsRevenge
One think I think helps get to the "core" is listening to the album loudly on a nice, big set of speakers. This album really needs some air between you and the source, and the tom hits feel so much better with the extra force. I listened to it this way first, and I started listening to it on my headphones this morning and it doesn't sound as good, although I enjoy listening for the little details that you miss with speakers. viatroy
after about 6 listens, i still cannot get into 'Shake it Off.' I think for me, it's the 'I'm a Wheel' of SBS. I've only listened to it twice, so am in no way prepared to formulate a definitive opinion, but I distinctly remember thinking "this album needs an "I'm A Wheel".
