Basil II
I don't love that they are doing this, but I did find out about Nick Drake through a Volkswagen commercial several years ago, so at least the people picking the songs have good taste. If it turns one person on to the music that hadn't really heard of Wilco before hand, then doing it certainly has it's benefits. --Mike This is exactly how I feel ............Any one remember when the Long Ryders circa '84 got completely crucified for for doing a Miller Beer commercial?? The money was used to record another record.........thier last and I'm grateful for them doing so before dissapearing into the ether...... -Robert.
Guest Jules
A toureg though goes for as much as 60k which is right in hummer territory.60K would include some crazy options/upgrades. Starts at 38K and actually gets decent mileage compared to other SUVs.

"Selling out" is often part of growing up and realizing that sticking to idealistic goals that you set when you were a teenager is completely stupid and immature. that's actually something sellouts tell themselves so they can sleep at night

noyes
i didn't bother to read all 24 pagesbut i don't think of Wilco as selling out, even if their newest album is #4 on the charts or if a song of theirs plays in some commercial.truth is, wilco is not that big a band and are hardly known outside it's large fanbase (if that makes sense) haha.i don't think it's anything to worry about. most of the people that listen to the band are true fans and that's really all that matters.that's the difference between a great band selling out and a great band who are successful to me; wilco fans are real fans. and yeah, to those taking the car commercial thing seriously; chill out.i heard it and immediately thought, "cool. wilco song on tv." that's it.they're not going to become Coldplay because one song was played on some commercialthat most people who aren't fans probably wouldn't even know who the band was.now had it played on one of those iTunes commercials, i would understand, but even then, i wouldn't take it too serious. i wonder what you guys would have thought (or did think, for some of you) when you saw Tweedy in this Apple commercial back in the day haha.
