Three dollars and 63 cents
Via Chicago, Misunderstood, Sunken Treasure, and Ashes of American Flags come to mind first. Either Way has also really resonated with me from the first time I heard it. The first few months of this year were really tough for me, and around the time SBS came out I was finally starting to feel okay again, and Either Way captures that feeling so well. Analogman
How to fight loneliness?Smile all the time Shine you teeth 'til meaninglessAnd sharpen them with lies And whatever's going downWill follow you aroundThat's how you fight loneliness You laugh at every joke Drag your blanket blindlyAnd fill your heart with smoke And the first thing that you wantWill be the last thing you ever needThat's how you fight it Just smile all the timeJust smile all the timeJust smile all the timeJust smile all the time Like a cloud his fingers explodeOn the typewriter ribbon, the shadow growsHis heart's in a bowl behind the bank And every evening when he get homeTo make his supper and eat it aloneHis black shirt cries while his shoes get cold It's just a dream he keeps havingAnd it doesn't seem to mean anythingAnd it doesn't seem to mean anything One summer, a suicideAnother autumn, a traveler's guideHe hits snooze twice before he dies And every evening when he get homeTo make his supper and eat it aloneHis black shirt cries while his shoes get cold It's just a dream he keeps havingAnd it doesn't seem to mean anythingIt's just a dream he keeps having He feels lucky to have you hereIn his kitchen, in your chairSometimes he forgets that you're even there It's just a dream he keeps havingAnd it doesn't seem to mean anythingIt's just a dream he keeps having It's just a dreamAnd it doesn't seem to mean anything

yermom
How to fight loneliness?Smile all the time Shine you teeth 'til meaninglessAnd sharpen them with lies I believe I have agreed with you on this in another thread...yeah, how can this song not elicit some emotion in a listener?"Tis downright depressing. Other stand-out songs for this particular moment:At Least That's What You Said gets me all twisted up in my guts...in a good way.Magazine Called Sunset elicits the happy.Candyfloss also elicits the happy. Really, I can't think of any Wilco tunes that don't get some kind of emotional response from me. Even Casino Queen, gets my spirits swirling -that's an emotion, right? This is why I love the Wilco (and all good music), all that spirit-swirliness.

Szabo
i forgot Venus Stop the Train I just came here to say that. Rhythm (Cars Cant Escape) is very emotional for me too. I hate to bring this up, but i feel a certain aspect of emotion left Wilco with Jay Bennett. Although, they gained much, much more in different ways through the current members.
