Via Chicago, Misunderstood, Sunken Treasure, and Ashes of American Flags come to mind first. Either Way has also really resonated with me from the first time I heard it. The first few months of this year were really tough for me, and around the time SBS came out I was finally starting to feel okay again, and Either Way captures that feeling so well.

How to fight loneliness?

Smile all the time

Shine you teeth 'til meaningless

And sharpen them with lies

And whatever's going down

Will follow you around

That's how you fight loneliness

You laugh at every joke

Drag your blanket blindly

And fill your heart with smoke

And the first thing that you want

Will be the last thing you ever need

That's how you fight it

Just smile all the time

Just smile all the time

Just smile all the time

Just smile all the time

Like a cloud his fingers explode

On the typewriter ribbon, the shadow grows

His heart's in a bowl behind the bank

And every evening when he get home

To make his supper and eat it alone

His black shirt cries while his shoes get cold

It's just a dream he keeps having

And it doesn't seem to mean anything

And it doesn't seem to mean anything

One summer, a suicide

Another autumn, a traveler's guide

He hits snooze twice before he dies

And every evening when he get home

To make his supper and eat it alone

His black shirt cries while his shoes get cold

It's just a dream he keeps having

And it doesn't seem to mean anything

It's just a dream he keeps having

He feels lucky to have you here

In his kitchen, in your chair

Sometimes he forgets that you're even there

It's just a dream he keeps having

And it doesn't seem to mean anything

It's just a dream he keeps having

It's just a dream

And it doesn't seem to mean anything

I believe I have agreed with you on this in another thread...yeah, how can this song not elicit some emotion in a listener?

"Tis downright depressing. :ohwell

Other stand-out songs for this particular moment:

At Least That's What You Said gets me all twisted up in my guts...in a good way.

Magazine Called Sunset elicits the happy.

Candyfloss also elicits the happy.

Really, I can't think of any Wilco tunes that don't get some kind of emotional response from me. Even Casino Queen, gets my spirits swirling -that's an emotion, right?

This is why I love the Wilco (and all good music), all that spirit-swirliness.

i forgot Venus Stop the Train :dontgetit

I just came here to say that. Rhythm (Cars Cant Escape) is very emotional for me too. I hate to bring this up, but i feel a certain aspect of emotion left Wilco with Jay Bennett. Although, they gained much, much more in different ways through the current members.
