Katie3
Mini play-doh's and mini chocolate bars. Last year my candy giving duties were revoked because I apparently was giving out way too much. I am just a generous person I guess, but this year I will be good; my boyfriend and I are going to get dressed up, sit on the front porch, and hand stuff out together. mountain bed
I was thinking of handing out these little orange barrels, but there could be some, errrm, legal ramifications.
isadorah
i'm bummed, i won't be handing out candy this year. locked apartment building and i seriously don't think there are any kids living in my neighborhood. there are none in my apartment building for sure, and i don't recall seeing any when i'm out and about which is kinda ironic because i live next to a school. the locked building thing squashes any hope of any candy giving. can i live vicariously through someone else? the person giving out play-doh maybe? OOO
Where did you grow up, in Anytown, USA? That's the kind of stuff that we use to throw back at the house on the way out. Funny but true.
Analogman
Funny but true. Of course, everyday was trick or treat back in the day.
Sir Stewart
At age 7 or so, I was trick-or-treating with my older brother on our street - we yelled "trick or treat!" as our neighbor Charlie, who was in his late teens and was no stranger, answered his parents' door, to which he responded "Here's a trick!" and slammed the door. We thought he was kidding, but after a minute of looking at the closed door, we left, bewildered.
the carlos
When I was a kid, there was a guy in our neighborhood who would hand out comic books. We always hit his house first. I think we might skip handing out candy this year. We get so many kids it's a little overwhelming.

That's an excellent idea.I've got boxes of late eighties and early nineties Marvel stuff I need to get rid of. Some of them worth a little dough; ( I hate selling stuff ).I'll pull out a few boxes to set out by the door and offer them up to the parents as they swing by with the kids. Thanks for mentioning that.

keylime
I kind of want to go trick or treating still....it is extremely difficult for me to know that there are literally thousands of people close by who are willingly giving out free candy. How the hell can I say no to that?!? It's candy!!! And its free!!! I don't think I'm too old
Twisted Acres
Bought a big ol' bag of Fun Size Skittles and Starburst (as if the full-size versions AREN'T fun???)... but I've already eaten 1/8 of the bag. Hurry up Halloween!!! Not that we have too many kids coming by ringing the bell... everybody on our stretch of the road has outgrown the costume fun, except for one adorable little 3-year-old. She's gonna have a shitload of Skittles and Starbursts, that's for sure.

Beltmann
I have a little boy with peanut and tree nut allergies. So we're handing out plain Hersey bar minis and Mike n' Ikes.We had an assortment of choices that kids could self-select--Butterfingers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Kit Kats, Smarties--but I also kept a separate bowl of peanut-free stuff, just in case. Plus, every thirtieth kid received a set of steak knives.
