I saw a great show last night and I'm feeling really good right now. I wish I felt this way after every show I see as I do get out quite frequently. So I decided to put together a small list of bands who moved me to feel the way I do today - bands who I want to take all my friends to see next time around - artists who inspire me. Here's my short list of late:

The Hold Steady (last night)

David Rawlings Machine

Ween

Old Crow Medicine Show

Yo La Tengo

Rush

Wilco

Banyan (w/Nels & Watt)

The Wiyos

Wilco

The Almond Brothers - 1990's era.. I know not as good as the original line-up, but still incredible

The Wailers

The Eagles

Fugazi

White Stripes - Not a huge fan, but boy do they put on a hell of a show

Pixies

That pretty much sums up the best shows I've been to.

Paul Westerberg

Prince

Radiohead

I don't see nearly as many shows as I should anymore.

Grant Lee Buffalo - They would have to re-unite

Moist - They would also have to re-unite

Tilt - They would have to re-unite, there seems to be a pattern here.

Wilco

Green Day - I know I'll probably catch flack for this but I took my stepson to see them last year on their American Idiot tour and they actually put on a pretty good show.

MMJ (still the best performance I've seen in my 35+ years of attending rock concerts)

Wilco (right now they are at their peak)

M Ward (great!)

Neko Case :wub

Ryan Adams ( Three times this year alone he and the Cards knocked me out)

Edit: Yeah... Yo La Tengo are up there too.

Edit PartII: Drive By Truckers

X &/or Knitters

Husker Du (would have to reunite . . . and then hell would have frozen over)

Psychedelic Furs - first concert I ever saw (1984), seen them every time they've been out since (most recently 2005). Even playing a small club Richard Butler still looks as if he's playing to a huge crowd and his enthusiasm is a welcome change from the 80s artists who approach their material with either indifference or vague irony.

Wilco (natch)

Bad Brains
