Wilco's official word on SNL

Recommended Posts

You'd be surprised how far back a lot of the "kool-aid drinking" members of this board go with Tweedy. I can claim 1990, and so can a number of others. Some of us love the new album, some of us don't.

quoted also-->Our long tenure doesn't make us "better at Wilco" than anyone else. It just means we found out about them early on. Some of the most knowledgeable, devoted Wilco fans I know are people who only came on board after hearing Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. That doesn't make them bad Wilco fans, it just means they weren't exposed to the band until then.

Yeah, take that, and some of us weren't old enough mentally to get Wilco or UT back then. I had some of their albums but they collected dust while Nirvana and Soundgarden were providing the fuel for my angst. I am much calmer now and, therefore, Wilco and UT are the bands of choice. Judging from some of the recent angst, maybe you all should pull out some Nirvana and SG and tear up your room a little, you know, get it out of your system.

Based on your avatar, I can think of several other reasons for your new found mellowness

p.s. -- i go back with tweedy to uncle tupelo, who i saw 14 years ago last week, and wilco, who i saw at the Mercury in december 1994, so now don't start questioning my credentials. i was digging wilco before most of the kool-aid drinking hipsters on here had stashed their counting crows albums in the basement

Your one of those guys, well, when I had sex for the first time I had to ride my bike home!

Top that big dog. :yawn

Oh my word, are we going to get into the "who is best at Wilco" thing again? Since when do you need credentials to show how much of a fan you are? Is there a certificate I can send away for? :yay

Just my two cents... it would be ridiculous for Wilco to pass up what might be their only chance to play SNL in favor of a show they can reschedule any time. If I had tickets to the postponed show, I would be bummed but I would understand.

As for what Wilco will do to make up for it... I suggest that when they play the make-up show, they break out the macrame owl!

It's likely Wilco plays 2 songs from Sky Blue Sky.

BUT......beings they've never played SNL before, it's at least possible they play one of their older songs. Ya think?

Monday and Casino Queen sounded very sweet last night in DC. And Always In Love would melt a few faces who are new the the Wilcos.

This wasn't smarmy or elitist enough. Try and stay on topic, please.

I have like 5 (now, 6, I guess) posts on the topic. Don't flatter yourself.

I'm not. Why 6 instead of 0? That is the question.

You know, I always let the trolls get to me. I'm going to stop now.

A point of clarification. I am not a troll. What message board troll behavior have I engaged in? I didn't come in and slag the band, I didn't toss profanities/obscenities around, I didn't engage in derogatory name-calling, etc. On the contrary, I have praised the band, talked about my history as a fan and how much they mean to me, I have spoken in civil tones - save a few times I have been spoken to in a less than civil way - even then I was far from inflammatory, I have taken part topically in a variety of threads, I have made a clear effort to learn and follow board protocol and I am not a new member. All that I can think that you refer to is I strongly disagreed with a band decision and stated my logic in a civil manner and responded when people responded to me. That should be acceptable. I honestly don't understand the venom from many of you. It seems as though the problem is yours, not mine.

"Troll."

I disagree. I am responding to you, as you are responding to me. To paraphrase Tweedy, you are wrong.

:w00t I just saw a promo for SNL with Wilco!!! They were all holding phones and texting while standing behind Ellen Page. She said "Hi I'm Ellen Page and I'm hosting SNL this week with musical guests Wilco." Then she turns to them and says " Hey guys did you get my text?" Then they all look at her and nod- that was all!! :lol I got excited because I didn't expect to see them in the preview. So, watch NBC they will show more. :yes
