remphish1
The Jayhawks are solid and I believe Gary Louris is one of the finest songwritters of our time. I have been a Jayhawks fan probably since 1992 or 3 when I bought Hollywood Townhall as a 12 year old. I have known them more than half my life! Anyhoo wanted to see what are your favorite songs and albums by the Jayhawks. Mine are as follows1. Hollywood Town Hall2. Tomorrow The Green Grass3. The Sound of Lies4. Blue Earth5. Smile6. Rainy Day Music Favrote Songs1. Settled Down Like Rain2. Clouds3. Over My Sholder4. Nothing Left To Borrow5. 5 Cups of Coffee6. Miss Williams Guitar7. One Mans Problems8. Baltimore Sun9. Sioux City10. Haywire
ction
I have to admit, I'm not sure I've ever heard a note of the Jayhawk's music.

remphish1
I have to admit, I'm not sure I've ever heard a note of the Jayhawk's music. I think The Jayhawks, Early Son Volt, Early Wilco and Uncle Tupelo go hand in hand! I feel like each one is a piece of this giant alt-country-rock puzzle.
myboyblue
I like all of their albums for the most part. Rainy Day Music has some 'adult contemporary' moments but overall nice enough album. I agree with your top 3 but would probably but Smile as #4.

M. (hristine
My old boyfriend lived on a tree farm with hundreds of acres of stomping ground. On Sunday mornings we put our fishing poles on the luggage rack and a well worn copy of Hollywood Town Hall in his dusty Jeep's cassette player, and played it till we went in the house at dinner time. I can't hear that album without thinking of those days. I listened to Jayhawks long before I ever heard of Uncle Tupelo/Wilco.

Serak_the_Preparer
I too was listening to the Jayhawks way before I heard of Wilco or Uncle Tupelo. I remember around 1998 my buddy went CD shopping and I asked him what he bought. He said he got some Captain Beefheart and an Uncle Tupelo CD. When i asked him about the UT he said I probably wouldn't like it. Thanks. I had to wait another 3 years to discover them and Wilco thatnks to a different buddy. I have never heard Bunkhouse, so my top Jayhawks records go something like this: 1. Hollywood Town Hall2. Tomorrow The Green Grass3. Blue Earth4. The Sound of Lies5. Live at the Women's Theatre6. Rainy Day Music7. Smile
Tweedy's Gurl
tomorrow the green grass is definitely my favorite. i could listen to it endlessly and never get tired of those gorgeous harmonies.
jakobnicholas
Hollywood Town Hall is an absolute MUST. Tomorrow the Green Grass is very good. If you like both of those, Pacific Coast Rambler by The Original Harmony Ridge Creek Dippers (Mark Olson, Victoria Williams) is something you may also like. Another MUST, in my opinion....along the same vein, is Victoria Williams' "Loose"....one of my all-time favorite albums.
CortezTheKiller
I always thought Mark and Gary listened to a lot of Ragged Glory before they headed into the studio to record Hollywood Town Hall.
Hype Repellent
1. Hollywood Town Hall2. Tomorrow the Green Grass3. Blue Earth4. Salvation Blues (Olson)5. Rainy Day Music (Olson-less Jayhawks) Get those albums immediately. Exactly. Whiskeytown - don't forget to put them in there somewhere That's like putting General Hospital next to "There Will be Blood and "No Country For Old Men".
H-Bomb Henry
My wife cringes at Olsen's voice and I have to admit Olsen alone is an aquired taste but Louris and Olsen together is like a finely tuned instrument. I'm looking forward to the album that they will be putting out shortly.
