mountain bed
I saw the Sabbath show here last night and I was pleasantly surprised. Tony was playing wonderfully all night, soloing JUST the way you would hope him to. Geezer's fingers were flying all over that bass like a man half his age. And Ozzy...well he's still a frontman of note. I told my kid, "Damn Ozzy will MAKE you love him, even if you weren't really in the mood to". LOL Solid setlist, the 3 new tunes fit in very nicely among the old gems like Fairies and Snowblind. Really this was better than it had any right to be.
tinnitus photography
yep, wholeheartedly agree. a friend of mine wrote a great review from the show i went to:http://theobelisk.net/obelisk/2013/08/13/black-sabbath-comcast-center-live-review/
Analogman
I just read an article on Billboard about Scott Ian doing a "spoken word" tour. That must be something to see. I wonder what he talks about? I suppose I could find some videos on Youtube.
tinnitus photography
Yeah he's gonna be at the HardRock here in Boston. Figure it might be Rollins extra lite In other news, Spirit Caravan is back together for a tour. \m/
Analogman
That sounds right. I do recall him telling Cliff stories at the Metallica 30th Anniversary shows. Maybe it will be something along those lines.

Analogman
I'd like to get this. No Life 'til LeatherThis year we decided to celebrate Record Store Day with our friends at independent retail by taking a huge leap back in time to our humble beginnings with that little rectangle of plastic known as the "demo tape." In 1982 we recorded seven songs that became our initial calling card known as No Life 'til Leather and it led us to our first record deal . . . the rest, as you some of you may know, is history! On Record Store Day, April 18th that demo tape will be available as a limited edition cassette (yes, cassette!!) at your favorite neighborhood record store and Metallica.com. I was trying to recall if I ever had No Life 'Til Leather - I don't think I did. The only rarities I have are: Whiplash (cassette), Metallistore (cassette), and The $5.98 E.P.. . . (vinyl) (I don't know how rare that is though. Probably not that rare). I guess they are going to re-master/re-release all of their albums. I may be interested - depending on how they sound. At least up through And Justice For All. . .
nalafej
I'm excited to see what they do with those first 4 major releases too.
Analogman
I think the only two Metallica cds I have are And Justice For All... and Garage Inc. The rest are original cassette or vinyl pressings.
calvino
Read that Bruce Dickinson has finished up his cancer treatments. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/iron-maidens-plans-will-be-determined-by-bruce-dickinsons-progress-in-cancer-battle-says-manager/
Analogman
I read that other day also. According to Nicko, they have a new album finished and ready to go.
calvino
Still need catch Maiden at least one time --- I now live 15 minutes away from the shed they typically play at -- haven't been to a show there since the 90's, though. Their DVD archival releases have been pretty good - the last one I got was Maiden England, 88 -- it's good - the documentary on disc 2 is pretty decent - the departure of Adrian Smith is discussed. Also people upload a lot of their recent Pro-Shot shows on Dime often, which are typically fun to watch. Gers is quite the ham.
tinnitus photography
never was a big IM fan.... i prefer the pre-Dickinson records to be honest.
Analogman
I like those History of Iron Maiden dvds.
yunginternet
Sannhet's "Revisionist" is quite amazing. Has anyone else checked it out?
Moss
I wonder how Matt Pike decides whether to do a Sleep tour or a High on Fire tour. I think High on Fire is recording a new album.
Analogman
The beginning of that Sannhet album made me think of the band Helmet.
yunginternet
The beginning of that Sannhet album made me think of the band Helmet. Haha, good call. I haven't listened to Helmet in years.
Analogman
I don't think I have either. I may be wrong - that is just what came to mind.
Analogman
Speaking of the good old days - someone just put a Metal Church show from 1985 on Dime a Dozen. I can't recall if I ever saw them - but I am pretty sure I use to see bands at Ruthie's Inn and The Stone.
calvino
Speaking of the good old days - someone just put a Metal Church show from 1985 on Dime a Dozen. I can't recall if I ever saw them - but I am pretty sure I use to see bands at Ruthie's Inn and The Stone. I use to have dubbed tape of their first release -- haven't listened to in since the 80s (lost it). Unbelievably my library system has the 1st one and The Human Factor in its system -- put a request in to have them brought into my local library. Besides local heavy metal bands - I never saw a 'real' heavy metal show.
Analogman
The Dark is the one to get. (You can check it out on Youtube - of course.)
