A Thread for Musical Blasphemy you Truly Believe

Recommended Posts

This thread is much better when it sticks to the blasphemy and eschews commentary on the blasphemy or tediously wanders into the territory of what people like.

The '00s were the most dreadful decade of rock music EVER. Even worse than the '80s.

MB, the 80s had the most vibrant underground scene of any decade. Also, IMO, Prince's output makes the decade worthwhile too. As far as this decade, the industry changed so much this decade and indie music sounded so different than any other decade that I am still trying to wrap my head around it.

Ummm... Yankee Hotel Foxtrot? A Ghost is Born?

Well, you just named 2 of the 3 new releases I forked over the hard-earned for in this decade.

The other one was Kicking Television. :lol

Do you mean Murmur?

Hopefully you are talking about some other band I don't know of?

I honestly couldn't make it through Bee Thousand. I sold it on ebay after a half a listen.

Murmur, thanks for the correction!

REM record

i love it to death, but Bee Thousand is better

maybe you should have listened to the second half!

I have it on my ipod still but it just isn't gelling for me. Is there one specific track that I must hear? Maybe I will spin it again tomorrow.

  • 5 weeks later...

now this is blasphemy...Flying Nun is the greatest label of all time.

The Chills

The Clean

The Bats

Verlaines

The Pin Group

This Kind of Punishment/Jefferies brothers

Gordons

Dead C

The Rip/Alastair Galbraith

Tall Dwarfs

Bill Direen/Bilders

all those bands put out totally essential records in the 80s.

Seen this news?

Flying Nun

And this....(it's been up for a while and as a FN fan you may have already seen it, worth a watch if you haven't (in 9 parts))

i hadn't seen that Roger's got control of FN again...awesome news. chris matthews (headless chickens) was complaining about the fact that warners wouldn't let him post his own songs on facebook...what a clueless label.

and that documentary is fantastic...i highly recommend anyone curious about flying nun to watch all nine installments.
