A Thread for Musical Blasphemy you Truly Believe

Recommended Posts

I agree with every one who stated that Quadrophenia is better than Tommy, but my favorite Who album is Who By Numbers

This is so true. Quadrophenia and Tommy are both incredible, but Quadrophenia wins because of how untouchable Daltrey's vocals were in that era.

And the Who By Numbers is criminally underrated. So many great songs on there. Again, Daltrey was on top of his game in these years. That being said, However Much I Booze might be the best song on Numbers.

Blue, red and grey... gorgeous.

I guess I've got it bad for heartfelt acoustic numbers sung by with sweet emotion by a musical genius.

You misspelled "Document."

Shit! That's what I meant. TY!

Van Morrison is a musical genius.

Charlie Parker changed the course of music.

The music of the Doors and the Who has not aged well.

Bob Dylan is the poet laureate of the past 50 years. His music is ageless and will be reinterpreted for generations to come just like Gershwin.

I love and I hate the Stones. At the moment I think I love them.

The only thing worse than the Band breaking up was the Clash breaking up.

The early loss of Duane, Jimi, Janis, Mama Cass, Lowell, Lennon, Richard Manual, Jaco, Jerry, Mark Sandman, Rick Danko, Joe Strummer has left a hole in the music that can't be filled. I'm sure I've missed a few so shoot me.

Morphine is greatly unappreciated for their contributions. We miss you Mark.

If you don't like or get the Dead that's okay their shows are way to crowded already!

These aren't really blasphemous at all. You're wrong about the Who and the Doors, but still. No blasphemy here.

Yes - a blasphemy would be something like, "Since some point in the 1970s, Van Morrison stopped being good and became a drunken Irish bellowing machine," or something like that.

This belongs in the NFL thread. Did the Jets poop on your picnic yesterday?

I'd like an application to the "I don't dig 'Grace' club". I've tried. It does nothing for me.

Slick, yes.

Buckley, no.

Woah, people think Quadrophenia is better than Tommy?

Blasphemy!

i do. i think it holds together better, and the high points ('cut my hair,' 'quadrophenia,' 5:15,' 'the punk meets the godfather') are better than those on _Tommy_. but don't get me wrong, i love _Tommy_ too.

This may have been the only piece of blasphemy in your post, but I agree with it. Though I still love The Who.

RE: Springsteen

the guy is a pathetic nostalgia act

he hasn't written a good song in 20 years

Have to say I agree with that last part. Just as one example, "The Rising" was a steaming pile of crap.

By the Numbers is Townsend at his whiniest.

??

Townsend sings two tunes on the whole album, one being one of the best tunes the Who does (imo).

Townsend is the writer...his lyrics are often extended whining sessions.

That being said...I think that the band was done after Quadrophenia.
