Wendy
So I'm thinking a free show by Calexico in Detroit might be the thing for me. Weather forecast says high of 80 and sunshine! What kind of fun do ya'll have planned?
bobbob1313
Well, I turn 20 on Friday, so I'm having some people over to celebrate that. Other than that, probably working Saturday and Sunday, so don't go to the movies. Stay home with your families!

cryptique
I wish I could say we have all kinds of awesome plans, but gas prices along with what we spent on our San Francisco trip have left us a bit short on funds. If the weather's good, we'll look for free fun outdoors. I doubt we'll venture more than a few miles from home the whole weekend, however.
isadorah
I live in Washington, DC. need I say more? Ok I will, fireworks, viewed from some great vantage point like the Key Bridge, the Iwo Jima Memorial, or the Memorial bridge, maybe even the Lincoln memorial, the backdrop being the Washington Monument, the Capital Building and the rest of that fairly patriotic and spectacular DC skyline. A friend from GA will be joining me. We will be making it a weekend on the cheap.
myboyblue
I'm likely going to head to the American Music Festival in Chicago...it's an annual tradition for me. They rarely miss.

A friend from GA will be joining me. We will be making it a weekend on the cheap. I've always thought Iwo Jima Memorial was the best view of the city and that I'd love to live in one of those condos behind it. Did you notice that's where Charlie Wilson lived in the movie Charlie Wilson's War? For my 4th, we're debating whether to keep our 3-year-olds up for fireworks. I'm afraid my daughter wouldn't like it. Loud-flushing toilets scare her...

I'm certain your Gull Lake is just as nice as my Gull Lake And since my nephew is going to be in town the is appropriate as I'm sure pirate battles with super-soakers will be on the agenda. We went back there in 2001, holy cow is it nice now.my husband's grandparents lived on gull lake (and raised chickens there -- spiffier spot than usual for chickens, i'd say), and most of his few memories from childhood took place there. he was describing the whole area to me in great detail just the other night; he clearly loved it. so now i want to go, next time we drive to michigan, when we have an extra thousand bucks on hand for gas. sweetheart-mine
following edie's format, thank you, edie: 4th: stay away from the center of this resort town we live in and say goodbye to the cats as they run for weekend-long cover due to beautiful fireworks. 5th: go to cookout celebration for an unusual confluence of friends' birthdays in addition to the 4th. 6th: watch the red sox beat the yanks and drink bad wine.
