Good Old Neon
They do - it's $1.99 a 40 here in Kingston. Damn - that shit got expensive!
Edie
This upset me more than I thought it would, but in reality, it's part of the pendulum. At one point back in the late 70s or 80s, everyone was terrified that the Japanese were buying up everything in America, especially real estate. The Japanese economy took a turn for the worse, and then you didn't hear about that so much. What worries me is the fact that this economy seems so fucked up and we have a war to fund. cryptique
I believe that was a Canadian beer, commie.I believe it started there, but it was brewed in the U.S. for several decades.

uncool2pillow
My first thoughts: 1) maybe the beer will taste better2) don't f#@k with Busch GardensI love Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. The and Apollo's Chariot rock! They will have to change the signs in the restrooms that exploit A-B's American ownership vs. Miller SAB (or whatever they call it). RaspberryJam
My econobeer of choice is Genesee Cream Ale. Made in Rochester or Utica. I can clear this up. Genny Cream, a fine beer, is made in Rochester. Utica Club, an excellent cheap beer, is made in, you quessed it, Utica. My hometown beer, family owned since the 1800's, they also make the yummy Saranac line. Worth seeking out if you are in the upstate NY area, not so much if there is any chance is is less than fresh, since it has no preservatives, and when it goes bad, it goes REALLY bad. bjorn_skurj
I like Saranac, but in the Hudson Valley, at least, it is not as cheap as it once was.

mountain bed
They will likely keep everything open, but layoffs/cutbacks are a given. A-B, like many other American companies, is full of waste. You can't really blame the new owners if they come in and tweak operations to run leaner. We'll see if 'running leaner' means there will be shake ups at the upper levels of management (where waste usually resides) and not on the line (where folks are just trying to keep their head above water). H-Bomb Henry
I'm sure Warren Buffet and the rest of the rich fooks profiting off this sale will make up for the loss of charitible donations. I feel like we are in the middle of a class war in this country. I wish Bush would reinstate the draft so the middle class can pull themselves away from text messaging and their suv's. caliber66
Warren Buffett is one of the most charitably people in the world. What the hell are you trying to say here.Actually, Warren Buffett has made the single largest charitable contribution in history, and he intends to bequeath the bulk of his estate to charity when he dies, so he's probably the most charitable person in the world. Well, yeah. But I added the qualifier in case someone wanted pull some Andrew Carnegie shit out of their ass and adjust it for inflation, or something. That was a lie, but thank you for overlooking my terrible typo there as well.

I know Warren has a nice gimmick going with his connections to the Gates foundation. I'm just saying I don't think Warren is going going to be sponsering any Little League baseball teams in the St. Louis area.

fatheadfred
So now the only American breweries are micros? Sam Adams is the largest? Will AB drop their attempts at stealing the craft market share w/ their lame attempts of dressed up swill? I'd have to think Inbev will just want the big piss lines... as they are more profitable since they use gmo corn as the bulk of fermentables. Welfare beer (tax payer subsidized). While I don't care for StL that much it is sad that the community will inevitably lose a piece of their community.
