funny from an Arkansas fan haha

well, this thread could take awhile but it can be summed up very easily....Steve Pederson (if you dont know I'd do a google search)

I wasn't taking a jab.

It could be worse. Houston Nutt could have taken the job in 2004 up there.

Awww crap. From the Detroit Free Press:

Just as the U-M offense was starting to make progress, it suffered a major setback.

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez was pessimistic Wednesday about quarterback Steven Threet's chances of playing Saturday at Minnesota because the redshirt freshman is dealing with the effects of a concussion.

"He's still got some symptoms," Rodriguez said before practice, the third straight that Threet has sat out this week. "Obviously, you're never going to put anybody out there if he's still in some danger of lingering effects from a concussion. He's very, very questionable. The doctors are going to look at him again, maybe a little later on today."

Threet suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game at Purdue but remained in the game.

Rodriguez said a coach usually can tell if a player suffered a head injury simply by talking to him, but he said his conversation with Threet before the final series didn't seem unusual.

Rodriguez seemed optimistic Monday about Threet's progress and expected him to play, but Threet's headaches have continued. Losing Threet would be a significant blow to the offense, which had its first major scoring day (42 points) against Purdue.

Nick Sheridan took first-team snaps during Wednesday's practice, and true freshman Justin Feagin backed him up.

"We were getting a little bit of a rhythm," Rodriguez said, now the "other guys have to pick it up. Nick and Justin we feel are capable; we have to be good around them, and hopefully the other phases of the game will be playing well."

Sheridan has played little since the Notre Dame game, stepping in only when Threet injured his elbow against Toledo and Penn State. Threet has thrown nine touchdowns in nine games; Sheridan has thrown one in five games.

Feagin's move back to quarterback is the latest shift in a turbulent freshman season that has moved him from quarterback to slot receiver, to the scout team, to slot receiver and to special teams. Last week the Wolverines burned his possible redshirt season by playing him a few snaps on special teams.

A few weeks ago, Rodriguez said Feagin was "not even close to being ready" at quarterback. He said Wednesday that Feagin would use a limited package of plays if he gets in the game.

For those hoping for a dramatic recovery by Threet, Rodriguez said he can't recall starting a quarterback who didn't practice during the week.

Looks like the Jug is going to stay in Minnesota Saturday afternoon. Not that there was any guarantee that Michigan would be keeping it if Threet played, but at least there would have been a chance.

Go Blue!!! Beat Goldy!!!

Has anything happened with Stonum's drunk driving arrest yet?

I heard the earlier suspension (Illinois??? Toledo???) was a result of the arrest. I'd be suprised if there is any further discipline that would result from a guilty plea/verdict or nolo plea. Depending on his past history, he could be subject to HYTA probation, which is a period of probation and automatic expungement if he lives up to the terms of the probation.

Ohio State player suspended, father lashes out

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP)—Ohio State receiver and punt returner Ray Small has been suspended in what his father describes as heavy-handed and unfair treatment on the part of coaches.

Ken Small says his son is out for two games for missing a class, a charge he says his son denies. An athletic department spokesman says the suspension is for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Small’s father said in interviews published Thursday that he thinks Ohio State is intentionally trying to ruin his son’s career.

Small was OSU’s leading receiver through the first three games of the season and returned a punt for a touchdown. Since then he has seen less playing time and has caught only four passes in the past six weeks.

:stunned Nobody gets suspended for 2 games for missing a class--certainly not at Ohio (Andy Katzenmoyer) State. I'm thinking dad needs a reality check on this one because there is almost certainly something else going on here.

Suspension aside, the diminished playing time is due to the fact that this guy was hyped as the second coming of Ted Ginn Jr. (who I always thought was kind of overrated, anyway) and has never really produced much. Small was supposed to be speedy "breakaway" receiver--something that has failed to materialize and it is one of the more glaring deficiencies in tOSU's offense full of possession-receivers and no real deep threats.

It's probably a fair assumption that the kid told his dad that the reason for the suspension was missing a class as opposed to the real reason. Would you tell your father that you got caught talking to RichRod and were thinking about moving north?

Michael Phelps will supposedly on the sidelines at our game on Saturday. Not sure why. It's homecoming, but he didn't go to school here so no clue. He's actually been spotted around town at different restaurants this past week.

Yeah, Ray Small has been a total bust. Posey even looks better than Ray Small did, and how many games has Posey even played? :pirate

This weekend should be a good one considering NW's strangely high rank. :stunned

Tim Fitzgerald

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com. Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday.

GoPowercat.com has confirmed that K-State has offered Patterson a five-year contract in the range of $2 million per season. Talks between K-State athletics director Bob Krause and Patterson's representatives began in the past two weeks. Initial discussions centered on the K-State graduate's interest in the job and demands to be lured to K-State.

Kansas State has hired TCU coach Gary Patterson, a former Wildcat, to replace Ron Prince.

Those issues were apparently the coach's ability to have complete control over the hiring of his coaching and support staffs, and when he would leave TCU to take over at K-State. A sticking point of coaching his team through a bowl may have been lifted with Thursday's 13-10 loss to Utah, however. That defeat certainly dropped the Frogs out of contention for a BCS bid, and possibly as low as playing in the Armed Services Bowl on TCU's home field in Ft. Worth, Texas, on New Year's Eve.

Patterson's Horned Frogs entered Thursday's game at Utah ranked 12th in the country, but fell to 9-2 with the loss. After a bye in the schedule next week, TCU will wrap up its regular season with a home game with Air Force on Nov. 22.

Known as one of college football's great defensive coaches, Patterson's TCU teams have made dominant defenses a hallmark of his program the past nine seasons.

Heading into the Utah game, TCU ranked this season second nationally in total defense at 214.5 yards per game, only behind USC. The Frogs' defense also ranked first nationally in rush defense (38.9 yards per game), 22nd in pass defense (175.6 ypg), first in sacks (3.8 pg) and third in turnover margin (plus-1.5 pg).

Patterson is a K-State graduate who began his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach on Jim Dickey's 1982 staff at K-State. Since that first year, Patterson has had 10 stops along the way as an assistant coach before taking over as head coach at TCU in 2000.

Beginning with the 1996 season, Patterson was reunited with former Pittsburg State coach Dennis Franchione at New Mexico for two seasons as the defensive coordinator then moved to TCU when Franchione took over the Horned Frogs beginning with the 1998 campaign.

Patterson is 71-27 as TCU coach. His teams have four 10-win seasons in the past six years and he was the fastest coach in school history to reach 50 wins.

Gary Patterson's agent has denied to GoPowercat.com that Patterson has been hired by Kansas State. GoPowercat cited sources stating such earlier Friday.

"We have had no contact with K-State," George Bass, Patterson's agent, said.

Multiple sources have told GoPowercat that K-State has had discussions with Patterson and a deal was reached. Bass strongly denies this information.

bobbob,

Are your boys ready for the Red Wolves!?!@!!

We're always ready! Going out to tailgate in about an hour, it's homecoming!

I'm hoping it's a good game, but I think the Wolves are just gonna pound it out on the ground and we won't be able to stop it. We need to get bigger.

Blocked! This is one of the times I wish I could become emotionally involved with college football but until SUNY New Paltz goes Division I, alas.
