Via Harvard
Have we found any tapers? Can we get an mp3 file?
gogo
Just a reminder: There is a subforum on this site that is dedicated exclusively to downloads of shows, and where to find them: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showforum=29 Also in that area, you'll find tutorials on how to download, convert, etc., plus lots of friendly people who are willing to answer any related questions. In general, we ask folks to wait a week before asking about the show's availability. It's usually not just a question of taping it and then popping it onto a site for us all to download. Most of the tapers will spend some time slicing it into tracks (at the very least), equalizing sound, correcting any blips, etc. (yes, I'm all about the technical terms...). It may take less time than that, or it may take more, but that's the rule of thumb. Keep checking that forum, and this thread. Believe me, when it's available, people will be talking! Analogman
Have we found any tapers? Can we get an mp3 file? Not yet. This is the section of the message board where you will find it announced if and when a source appears.
bböp
Remember there was a time when you'd have to wait weeks, if not months to get a recording of a show? And you'd have to trade or B&P with someone and
pillowy star
I remember the times when you went to a show and had to wait 2 days before you read about it in the local newspaper. Noone was talking about it being taped back then. How old does that make me?!?

Sparky speaks
I remember when the White Album (vinyl) came out when I was a kid and my parents had bought it for me for Christmas........I knew it was on the shelf in their bedroom closet unwrapped so I would sneak it out to give it a listen whenever they went out......Not too many options back in those days to hear something before you actually had it in your possession......Fond memories indeed hearing those songs for the first time.....I guess I'm dating myself here....... Three dollars and 63 cents
it makes you sound reasonable, unlike these folks who want shows an hour after they're finished, tagged, zipped and converted to MP3 because they can't figure out how to do anything for themselves. I never complain about having to wait for a recording, because I know I could never do all the stuff tapers do between going to the show and sharing the recording. I'm still having a bugger of a time trying to figure out port forwarding so that I can seed torrents and not just download stuff. I've stopped downloading in the meantime so I don't wreck my share ratio over on Dime, but I still feel like I'm in over my head, even after doing quite a bit of reading. I'm going to try again this weekend to figure it all out.

froggie
> (I realize this makes me sound very old and curmudgeonly.) i still do the snail mail trading and not afraid to mention to A-man that i dont know or care about using torrents! it's much less a hassle to get a few shows on a few data-dvd's from the postman, convert the flacs to wave format and burn to cd if you dont have unlimited bandwidth. and being in australia, we have to wait (gasp) 7-10 days for the package to arrive! (personal to Bridget for helping along the way!!)

Just trying to scam 50+ DVDs Just reading your previous post and I thought "oh man I'm I ever going to hook you up!", then of course I see you're kidding. browngw
Were there posters to buy at the two solo shows? I haven't seen any at the Wilco store.
stagerug
Yeah they did. They had 1 poster option with two price points. $15 for the poster itself, or $20 for a poster signed by Jeff...duh . Man, those were great shows.
bcart12
Here is one signed:
Three dollars and 63 cents
$15? They only charged me $10 for mine. I knew it was going to get beat up by the time I got it all the way home (and it did), so I didn't bother getting the signed one.
browngw
I was just wondering, going to the beacon show and I hope they have posters for that show. Would be even cooler if they had signed posters there also.
