Which Bands have you seen the most live?

Recommended Posts

Hmmm what 5 bands have you seen the most live?

For me...

They Might Be Giants- 23 times (I am from NYC area and they play here all the time....)

Bruce Springsteen-21 Times (Solo, E Street...I am from NJ....duh)

Guster- 20 times (I saw my first Guster show (Their third live show ever as Guster) at my day camp when I was 14 in 1995...got hooked)

Ben Folds (Ben Folds Five)- 18 times

Beck- 12 times

Suprisingly I have only seen REM 10 times (They didn't tour much in the 90's) and Wilco only 10 times too....

Phish I have seen 9 times but my interest in them has wained...

JGB: ~30

Ween: ~20

Jonathan Richman -- 6

Steve Earle -- 3

Stereolab -- 3

The Sea and Cake -- 3

Cocktails -- 3

The Slammin' Watusis -- 3 (every time as an opening act)

Uncle Tupelo -- 2

Meat Puppets -- 2

Pixies -- 2

Blur -- 2

Pulp -- 2

Yo La Tengo -- 2

Pogues -- 2

Bob Mould -- 2

Super Furry Animals -- 2

Local (Chicago) bands:

As you can see, I don't get to see too many bands more than once, so anyone that I can remember seeing more than once is included here.

Hmmm ... notice the lack of Wilco shows in PopTodd's list. :brow

I saw them only once... their debut in Chicago, at Lounge Ax.

And yes, I do need to see them again. Both the wife and I do want to get out to see them. (They're one of her faves, as well.)

Phish - 25 ish

Medeski Martin & Wood - 15 ish

Bela Fleck & the Flecktones 10 ish

These are the only bands that have been must see for me. Until Wilco. Haven't seen them enough.

There's a bunch of other hippie bands I've seen more than once but less than 10 times: Phil and Friends (close to 10), Allman Bros., Widespread Panic, Disco Biscuits (what the fuck was I thinking), Bob Dylan...

I can't believe some of you have seen the J. Geils Band multiples times. But to each their own.

I have a feeling when you see the band's name you think of 'Centerfold'? Or - 'Freeze Frame'? The 80s were not kind, but they're a hell of a blooz band.

I know "Centerfold" and thats pretty much it. But I was suggesting that people who had seen "JGB" 30 times were talking about the J. Geil's Band, and not some side project of that Ben and Jerry ice cream flavor guy.

This is true. Though I never saw them live I have heard some live shows of theirs. That Magic Dick is something on the harp.

What is wrong with J Geils...they are great live (so I hear).

For me it has to be

Dylan (at least 15 times)

Neil Young (around 10)

CSN and sometimes Y (10 or so)

Black Crowes (at least 10)

Plant...with and without Page (10ish)

Bruce (at least 10 times)

U2 (around 10)

Stones (5 or so)

Bowie (5)

Billy Joel (6 or more)

Rush (5 times)

Wilco (at least 7 times...including opening for Jayhawks and Sheryl Crow)

Madonna (5 times) for the wife

Pearl Jam (around 10)

I am sure I am forgetting some but....

Man I spent way too much $$$ on concerts in my life.
