jff
I read it, and don't think he's that messed up, actually. Definitely eccentric and a recluse but what is so weird about that? Dude's trying to capitalize the best he can on a short career in the limelight....Taking money from fans for items that do not and probably never will exist is pretty messed up. jff
Charging $300 for a cassette box set (in 1996, when cassettes were already a dead medium). "I need an armed bodyguard. Look what happened to John Lennon." ROFL. Speedball Jamm - a 71 minute guitar solo. Creating his own web forum with $500/year subscription fees. Sounds like a guy who is holding it together really well.

To compare the dude to GG Allin is preposterous, though. GG Allin was a degenerate, sub-human, pedophile. This guy is simply an eccentric con-man.
Sir Stewart
I read that yesterday. If that whole article is factual, Vinnie Vincent's gotta be the most fucked up person ever in rock music. Who is more of a mess? Not GG Allen. He just had a schtick. I saw a GG Allin documentary where he's passed out in the middle of partying, and after a chick starts pissing on his face, he wakes up, shakes it off, then starts drinking her piss. And if you ever read about that guy's final 24 hours, you'd probably be disturbed.

Probably the most disturbing music documentary I've ever seen. His fearlessness was admirable, too bad it was wrapped up in a messed up world view, erratic and violent behaviour and overall craziness.
Moss
Just read the kiss article in the latest Rolling Stone. The most interesting part to me was where Gene is at home, Paul shows up unexpectedly, and Gen seems almost desperate to get him to stay and hang out. Almost seemed like Paul was the big brother that he was trying to impress. Not the relationship I expected but that is how it came across.

He was obviously mentally ill and a drug addict, but I think his persona was something he knowingly invented. I've talked to some people who worked with him in the studio who said he was a pertty typical drug user, but not an out of control madman. Nothing like the guy onstage or at partys where cameras were present.
Sir Stewart
Well there's a difference between working with someone in a studio and partying with them. Maybe GG was just a pro.

Maybe GG was just a showboating self-promoter who had lost control of his persona.I fully agree with the edited version.

froggie
i'm an athiest, but i pray to god that they dont make some reality show based on the hall of fame shebang. at least the Osbournes was funny!
Analogman
I noticed Paul is doing a lot of press these days. I'd say it mostly has to do with his book. I was watching a video today where he was talking about being pissed of due to the fact they would not let all the KISS guys be inducted. (OR the ones they wanted anyhow) And he talked about how other bands got all their past and present members inducted. I can see where he has a point there. Eric Carr was a great drummer. Of course he is dead - but it would probably be nice for his family if he got in there. I don't know that I am much a fan of the Bruce Kulick era, but he should be in there too. Mark St. John is the other guy. He passed away also. And Vinnie - who is MIA, apparently. I guess they are mainly wanting Tommy and Eric Singer to get in.
Moss
The other thing I read that was interesting was the fact that peter and Ace sold the rights to their cat and spaceman personas allowing the current line up to use them. Apparently Ace gets his back soon. Peter seemed confused how he sold his and is not getting it back soon.
Analogman
I think I knew they sold the rights. I didn't know about the return though. I just saw a photo of the original four at the podium - so I guess they were able to get along enough to stand together.
nalafej
I agree with the Hall that it should just be the four original. Subsequent band members didn't contribute to much material that is Hall worthy. I think the Hall has actually set a good standard that they are living by.
Analogman
I think Paul was saying they don't have a standard - they pick and choose who gets in there. He used Robert Trujillo as an example.
John Smith
Is Trujillo a member of Metallica? Or a hired hand? I think maybe that might have something to do with it. Also no Pat Smear or any if the others for Nirvana, Stu Sutcliff, Pete Best, john Rutsey? Those other guys in the Clash? Lots of bands only have their classic lineups in, so Paul Stanley should STFU. Lammycat
Pretty sure Trujillo is a permanent member of the Metallica. He was inducted (with Newstead, too, iirc) along with Metallica. He's been their bassist for close to a decade, if not longer....
