Marlins are upset they didn't make the playoffs and haven't extended any coaches. I also think Fredi Gonzalez has to be looking at the vacant Braves job in 2 years, as he was a long time assistant with them and still lives there. Last week he signed on with ESPN, but he has the option to forgo that opportunity to seek a manager position somewhere. He is scheduled with an interview with the Indians soon. I live in Cincy now, but I was in the cities for the Royals series. Didn't catch a game in person but got to watch them all on local tv, which was a rare treat. I was the only one of my family/friends who was optimistic after the Tigers series. I was telling anyone who would listen that the Twins were gonna do it: force a 1-game and win that to make the playoffs. Now, I was just playing the optimist role because nobody else was, I didn't really believe my own drivel. But then it started happening and it became really exciting and I rode that thing to death! Whatever, anyway, I'm convinced we'll win Tuesday. Don't ask me about the rest, I'm too high on positivity and blind faith. Link to post Share on other sites

I have been a Twins fan all my life (since I lived there as a youngster) so I'm hoping. Now that I live in Colorado I am hoping the Rockies will do something. Someone on XM this morning cracked A-Rod had more RBI in one inning yesterday than he'll have the entire postseason. Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera -- under fire for a weekend of bad baseball and what police describe as heavy drinking at Birmingham's Townsend Hotel and a scuffle with his wife -- now has to answer for a second bizarre incident at the Townsend. A police report released late Monday quotes witnesses as saying an erratic Cabrera taunted an overweight, 15-year-old boy at the hotel in late August and had to be escorted out. One witness said Cabrera "acted as if he was on some drug" during the outburst; witnesses said the confrontation grew so heated that he challenged the teen's table to a fight outside and implied he had a gun there. I follow the Twins to the extent that I will "watch" the play-by-play updates on the Star Trib's website during work, and read the newspaper coverage (will also listen to the radio for weekend games), so I guess I do follow baseball pretty well...either way, wouldn't call myself a fan, but I look forward to today's win and a first round elimination.
